"SLC-S25/W6-Movie Snapshots/Your Life On Screen(Hidden Figures)"

A movie that particularly touched me is "Hidden Figures". Based on a true life story of three black women (Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson) who were recruited into NASA to work as mathematicians during the early years of the US space programs.

Hidden Gems is a very inspiring movie, some of the things i liked about it is:
1. Overcoming Discrimination and Racism: Despite living in a world that discriminated against skin color, gender, and race, Katherine turned out successful. She had to walk a mile to use the coloured restroom , yet she delivered an exceptional work.

Lesson: No matter the barrier society try to put on us, with determination you can break through.

2. The power of Education and Intelligence: These women excelled in a field dominated by white men as at the time, due to their intelligence and hardwork.

Lesson: Knowledge is power and no one can take it away from you.

3. The power of persistence: It would have been easy for Dorothy in the movie to give up due to the Ill treatment she received, but regardless,she persisted, tolerated her boss and kept giving and exceptional work. She was later recognized due to this.
Lesson: Never give up, always be resilient.

4. Teamwork: These women supported each other through difficulties and their unity gave them strength.
Lesson: Surround yourself with people who believe in you.

5. Believe in yourself: Mary Jackson went to court to ask permission to attend an all white school to become an engineer. She believed in her dream even when others doubted her.

Lesson: Always believe in yourself and no one can ever bring you down.

Although all three women were exceptional. I particularly loved Katherine's story more. She was resilient, headstrong, persistent, determined and at the end she came out Successful.

1. Straw(2025) :A story of a struggling single mother who had to do everything by herself. From the movie it could be seen that neglecting mental health and failing to support vulnerable individuals can lead to tragedy.

2. Iron Heart(2025): A story of a brilliant MIT student and inventor who creates her own armor hoping to leave a mark in the world. From the movie it is easy to see that ambition has great cost, and sometimes leaves a huge impact on the world.

I could particularly relate to the story of the women in hidden figures as the world is not completely Perfect yet. The discrimination against gender in work places still exist, also alot of people are still tribalistic and racist today .

But from this movie i learnt to always be resilient, and, i will definitely turn out successful.
