Diary Game 10th-12th June 2025 ||A Well Watered Visit to Abakaliki Ebonyi State.
Hello everyone and welcome. Let me take you along as I visit for the first time the city of Abakaliki. I had been told that from Owerri to my destination would take up to 5 hours and once the clock struck 12noon, I wouldn't be able to get a direct bus to the state. Armed with this information, I woke up as early as 4am to pack my bags as the day before has been a very hectic one. As early as 8:13am I was already at the bus park because I wanted to leave with the first bus and to my greatest joy, the bus was almost filled and remained just a few passengers.

Man proposes, people do as they like😂. My companions for the journey decided to turn up by 10:30am. This act of theirs made it impossible for us to go with the first bus. Our tickets had to be exchanged for the last bus as I waited for them. I was so furious as we had a meeting to attend by 4pm of the same day. Passengers started arriving and soon the bus was full, now it was time to leave but our driver had collected some waybill of over 200 buckets and was now struggling to fit all of it into a bus that was filled with passengers. Of course he couldn't carry all and since he didn't want to share the money with another driver, he kept us there at the park quarreling with the loaders, and generally wasting our time.
By 12noon, we had had enough and specifically told the driver to either move and begin our journey or refund our money. He grudgingly began our journey but refused to either drive well or focus on the road as he kept answering calls trying to sort out the bucket issue and stopping at several intervals. At some point, some of the men in the vehicle told him they would all gather and beat him up if he stopped again. After this warning, he never stopped again, but he still refused to focus wholly on the journey and drive well.
Finally I arrived at Abakaliki around some minutes past 5pm and headed straight to the venue of my meeting.

Once we were done, I headed home but not before I got myself a cup of fruit mixed parfait and some good jellof rice to go with it.

The next day I slept well seeing that our meeting would be starting by 4pm. Later on noodles was prepared for me. I'm not joking when I say the noodles was heavily spiced, but I enjoyed it. When it was time to take my bath, I noticed there wasn't water in the room and my hosts weren't around. I stepped out to look for water and came upon a well. It has been ages since I last saw a well or used the water in it. At first I was scared because the well was deep and afraid I might fall into it, but as I needed water, I had to fetch.

When it was time for me to head back to my base, I headed to the market to purchase some yams. My dad had asked me to get some for him while coming back. Here I saw and discovered that there are different types of yams. This first here is called black yam. It is rounder in shape, and shorter. Also commonly found.
This next yam is the type I went to look for. They said it's scarce and we had to walk around the market before we could get the size we wanted. This yam varied in sizes and cost between 7k-20k per yam ( 35 - 100 steem )
I quickly bargained with the woman and once we agreed on a price, I bought mine and headed straight to the bus park as my vehicle was already loading. I was too tired to take pictures of the departure as all I wanted to do was sleep the day off. I'm only sad I couldn't spend more days there to tour the city and connect up with a few steemians who live there. If there's one thing I noticed about this city, it is that the city is very calm and has a very good network of roads. Seldom did I come across a bad road, all the roads I plied were tarred and properly maintained. The people are friendly and not in a hurry unlike Lagosians.
I'm back to base, the grind continues. See you in my next post.
All pictures taken by me with my Nikon and redmi 9C camera.
