Life Lessons Learned
Life is a journey with many highs and lows. It offers numerous lessons to learn and unlearn.
What's a tough situation you've been through, and what did you learn from it? |
---|
In life, we cannot predict what challenges we will encounter. No one knows what tomorrow holds, but we must be prepared for whatever comes our way. Life has its phases, and people come in different sizes. Each phase can bring both good and bad, and no one can foresee it.
A difficult time for me was when I had the chance to run a business. This business was significant and set up for profit, but unfortunately, it did not yield the expected returns. Because my business struggled, I was unable to pay my employees, eat properly, or meet my own needs. I couldn't go out or do the small things I wanted to do.
I felt unequal to my peers, which was frustrating. I often went hungry for days because I couldn't support myself. In my business location, flooding was common, and it would enter my building, damaging much of my furniture.
I felt lost and could only trust God, hoping to get through that phase. The business I am referring to was worth millions, and I think you can understand how devastating it is to lose such an amount. In the end, I lost everything. Some of my workers took money, and I ended up with nothing. I was depressed and heartbroken; it was the hardest situation I have ever faced.
The lesson I learned is about business: if I am not well-informed about a venture, I should not pursue it. I should not rely on others to manage my business; I need to be fully in charge and take responsibility.
What's a piece of advice you'd give to your younger self? |

Dear younger self: Life doesn’t have a set plan, learn to embrace the unknown. Take your time; growth requires patience. Failure is not your foe, it’s your best teacher. Listen more and respond less. You don’t have to have everything sorted out, just continue to move forward with purpose.
Guard your energy and choose your friends carefully. Love wholeheartedly, but don’t lose your identity in the process. Rest is a form of productivity. Your value isn’t based on your accomplishments. Remain curious, kind, and courageous enough to be yourself. Above all, believe that you’ll be alright even when it seems otherwise. You are evolving. Keep pushing on.
What's the most important lesson you've learned and how has the lesson changed you? |
---|
The key lesson I’ve learned is that feeling uncomfortable indicates growth, not failure. For a long time, I shied away from challenges, afraid of making mistakes and being judged. However, embracing discomfort has taught me resilience, adaptability, and self-confidence. Growth often doesn’t feel pleasant at first it can be chaotic, uncertain, and frequently isolating.
Still, each time I confronted it directly, I came out stronger and with a clearer understanding of my identity. This change has transformed my approach to life. I now welcome change, accept learning curves, and view setbacks as opportunities. It has allowed me to live more genuinely, take risks, and prioritize progress over perfection.
What mistake taught you the most and what's the best lesson you've ever gotten? |

The biggest lesson I learned was from trying to make everyone happy. I always agreed, steered clear of disagreements, and molded myself to meet what others wanted. In the end, I forgot who I truly was. The need to be liked took away my energy and self-esteem.
The most important lesson I’ve learned is this: you can’t be everything for everyone and you don’t have to be. Saying no is a strong move. Being genuine draws in the right people and chances. This change helped me appreciate my own voice, establish limits, and live with more purpose. True peace comes not from seeking approval, but from being true to yourself.

Great job! I have so much going on in my life which makes me think about past that I could've done or avoided. Future is so unpredictable that brings unexpected surprises.
True,,, no one knows what the future holds so sometimes when we wish we could have prevented somethings from happening.
Hello, starting a business with high expectations and ultimately losing everything is a very unfortunate turn of events. But he who doesn't try doesn't achieve, and he who doesn't risk doesn't win. Life is so wise that it teaches us where we fail and how we can improve. Nice post, my lady.😃
