My celebrity crush.

in Steem4Nigeria2 months ago (edited)

Some people capture the hearts of millions, not just because they sing, act, or dance, but because of the essence they carry. For me, my celebrity crush is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a writer, a woman, a force of intellect, and a soul that has inspired me over and over again.

Who is your celebrity crush?

My celebrity crush is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the globally celebrated Nigerian author known for her bold literary works like Half of a Yellow Sun, Americanah, and We Should All Be Feminists.

Why do you choose her as your celebrity crush?

Where do I even begin? Chimamanda's intellect is simply magnetic. Her writing doesn't need glitter or trends to shine; she writes with such depth, grace, and confidence that you’re drawn into her mind and world without resistance. I love her because she is fearlessly authentic. While many chase validation in the crowd, she stays in her lane, and her light shines anyway.

She is bold yet graceful, intelligent yet relatable, and she doesn't let societal standards define her voice or values. I admire how she stands for everything she believes in, whether it’s feminism, identity, culture, or politics. To me, that’s true beauty: a woman who knows her worth and carries it with quiet dignity. Chimamanda is not just a celebrity, she’s a mirror to who I aspire to become.

If you were opportune to meet her, what would you discuss?

Oh, what a day that would be! If I ever get the privilege to meet her, I would ask:

  • How do you know so much about the world, about people, about pain and joy, and culture?
  • How are you able to communicate your thoughts so freely and powerfully?
Because that’s something I struggle with, articulating the whirlwind of thoughts in my head with clarity and impact.

I’d also ask her why her stories feel so personal, almost as though you’re reading her diary wrapped in fiction. Her words pierce through the page. She makes the imaginary feel real, so much so that halfway through the story, you forget it’s fiction. That is a gift I dream of nurturing.

Do you think being a celebrity comes with many responsibilities?

To be honest, I don't think being a celebrity automatically means you owe the world everything. I see it more as a privilege than a burden. Celebrities shouldn't be forced into pleasing fans or becoming what society expects of them. They’re human beings first. Just like Chimamanda, I believe that the most powerful thing a public figure can do is to remain themselves.

Yes, fans may look up to them, but living truthfully, speaking from their hearts, and doing what they love authentically is more than enough. That’s what makes them admirable, not the pressure to perform.

Chimamanda has taught me, without even meeting me, that you don’t need to shout to be heard. You don’t need to fit in to be loved. You just need to know who you are, stand by your values, and write your own truth.

She is my muse, my crush, and my quiet motivation.

I got the Image of Chimamanda from her Instagram page. I would like to invite @eliany @blessedlife @charis20 to join this contest.

ok, thank you.

Wow! I'm surprised you still read books. Gen. Z's don't read anymore. AI has taken over this generation. You must be born in the 90s like me. I enjoy reading. However, your celebrity crush is unique to you. Nobody can feel how you feel towards her.
I love how you express how she makes you feel about being realistic in life by sticking to who you truly are.
Keep steeming.

There are many here who still consider reading in their leisure time. You know what is funny about it? Last month I got a book titled "Why A's work for 'B' students and 'C' work for the government. It's a huge book to enlighten someone about money flow and liability as well as financial education. But to my surprise, everyone was stunned, Why are you reading a book in the century, some said I have no work. That's when I realized that people no longer read as they used to. AI is even worse; what came out as support is now mass destruction. I can see why people find it hard to engage as well because it's too difficult to read and pay attention. But to everyone who likes what I know it's gonna benefit us, I say well done....

Sorry @tempestinyang for...... would I say dragging comment with you🤣

Thank you for your contribution,

Bravo to you for staying learned. That's enough to expand your intellectual horizon.

Can I exchange one of my books with you after you're done reading it.
The title of the book catches my attention.
Thanks.
You're smart.
Keep steeming.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I was born in the 90s, and reading can never be outdated. We all need knowledge in this world to be the best version of ourselves, even with AI, to make the best of it, also involves reading and knowing how to use it.

From the way you describe her, she truly seems like someone you'd want to use as a role model, but without losing our own essence and identity.

There are people who have a great power to communicate, to the point of moving us and making us identify.

Like you, I think fame shouldn't be a burden. I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of someone who expects to please everyone; besides being forced, it's impossible and unfair.
Fortunately, that's not the case with the writer you admire so much.

Thank you for the invitation. Best of luck.

Absolutely, our identity matters a lot,
Thank you.
