Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 99: Over indulgence in consumables-(Gluttony)

Hello my steemit friends i love writing and taking part in contests here on Steemit. It gives me a chance to express my thoughts and learn from others. Today i am happy to take part in the Steem4Nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 99. The topic is about “Overindulgence in Consumables Gluttony ” and i think it is very important to talk about this issue in today’s world.
Explain gluttony and how a persons with such behaviours can be identified.
Gluttony means eating or drinking more than whats is needed. It is not just enjoying food but crossing the limit of need. A persons who suffers from gluttony eats or drinks too much evens when they are nothing hungry. They eat not because they are hungry but because they wantt more taste or comfort. We can identify a gluttonous person by some signs. They may always think about food talk about food or get upset when there is no food around. They might eat in secret or feel shame after eating a lot. They also eat very fast and do not stop when full. These signs show that the person is not eating to live but living to eat and that is what gluttony looks like.
Do you think a gluttonous person can be likened to just food and drinks? Explain.
I believe gluttony is not only about food and drinks. Gluttony is about overindulging and this can be in many areas of life. For example someone can be gluttonous with shopping. They keep buying things they don’t need just to feel better. Some people are gluttonous with social media or mobile phones. They spend all day scrolling and cannot stop. Others are gluttonous with entertainment watching TV or playing games for many hours. So gluttony is about not knowing when to stop. It means a person wants more and more even if it is harmful to them. So we should understand that gluttony is not only about food but about too much of anything that we enjoy but overuse.
What is your view of this? Do you think it's a natural situation or something one can manage or control? Tell us.
In my opinion gluttony is not a natural situation. It may start naturally like someone eating more during stress or sadness. But slowly it becomes a habit. I believes gluttony can be managed and controlled. It is nots something a person has to lives with forever. If someone wants to changed they can do it. It requires strong willpower understanding of the problem and a little support. For example if someone notices they are eating too much they can try to eat slowly drinking water before meals and stopped when they feel full. If someone is overusing social media they can set limits and take breaks. With efforts and care gluttony can be reduced. It is not something we are born with forever. It is something we do and we can stop doing it with the right steps.
What advice do you have for people who find themselves in such a condition?
My first advice is not to feel bad or ashamed. Everyone has some weakness. Gluttony is just one of them and it can be changed. If you notice that you are eating or doing something too much start by accepting the truth. Then try to make small changes. For food-related gluttony try eating slowly drinking more water and not keeping too much junk food at home. For other types like mobile or shopping addiction try to create a daily plan. Set time for your activities and try to stick to it. Replace your bad habit with a good one. For example if you eat when you are bored try reading a book drawing or going for a walk. Don’t try to change everything in one day. Take small steps and you will see the result. Also talked to someone you trust. Sharing yours feelings with family or friends can helps you feel better and stay strong. And if you thinking you cannot managed alone it is okay to talked to a doctor or counselor. They can helps you in a professional way.
I want to say that gluttony is a real issue. It can hurt our health mind and even our relationships. But we should not fear it. We should try to understand it and take action. With small steps good support and strong willpower anyone can overcome gluttony and live a better more balanced life. Thank you so much for readings my post.
