My Neighborhood Watch #110 - Reporting Events Around us

Dear diary

Today happens to be one of those days that just reminded me why I must do all it takes to be rich. Legitimately, of course!

I really feel disappointed with what happened today in my compound. It was a case of money winning again, not in business, not in politics but in the streets.

I was at home with my sister and her family around 8pm almost sleeping when i started hearing people screaming from outside, trying to separate a fight. I rushed downstairs to see what was happening and it happened that they were trying to hold a neighbor living opposite our compound from beating up our security man.

Our security man didn’t lay a finger on the neighbor because he was trying to avoid trouble. We were interrogating him to find out what happened. He explained that the man was accusing him of molesting his teenage daughter by asking her for her account details. He was still trying to explain that it was just a misunderstanding before our neighbor jumped on him again from behind beating him.

He kept warning him to leave him alone, that he will hit back, if pushed further.

Everyone was just trying to hold the neighbor to calm down but he won’t listen. It seems one of his blows that hit the guard must have activated the anger button, he reacted and took him by surprise.

Before we could say the word “JACK ROBINSON”, the neighbor was on the ground in his own pool of blood.

The neighbor had been standing on the sloped cemented floor. So, when the unexpected blow came, he fell on the ground and hit his head on the pieces of tiles you see there on the ground.

We were actually expecting a serious fight that night but he just became so calm. I don’t know if it was because he saw his wife and daughter staring at him or the spirit that was tormenting him to fight, flew away..

People around offered to carry him to the hospital to dress the wound but he refused. His wife and daughter took him home and told his own security guard to shut his gates.

The next day during the early hours of the morning as I was about leaving for work, the sirens came. Guess who was handcuffed? Not the man who started it. But the security guard who couldn’t afford to stay silent any more.

They arrested him and left to the station. The neighbor was claiming he use #100,000 to treat himself. You can imagine the lies he told the police.

It made me sick. Not because justice was blind but because it chose to look away. Today, I saw what happens when the truth is spoken by the wrong mouth. Is been three days now since they arrested our security guard and he’s yet to get bail because the police won’t let that happened until he gets the 100k for the wound.

(Our security house now empty)

We’ve contacted our landlord who is outside the state to communicate with the neighbor since he won’t allow anyone see him and from what our landlord said the neighbor has promised to call the police to released him today.

Dear diary, this just confirmed another popular saying in Nigeria:

“When rich man talk to rich man, rich man understands”.

Maybe tomorrow, Diary, someone will listen.
But today… power had its way.

No doubt. Kingdom operate under various dimension, depending on the pinnacle you belong. From your reality, it's visible that bribery was the talking script behind the whole reason why the faulter wasn't arrested, instead a worn-looking one with little finance in the breast abyss
