I am starting by wishing all my Steemit friends good health. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, I am very well. I will participate in the second week of the great engagement challenge. The theme of today's engagement challenge is SLC-S25/W2-Movie Snapshots|Book to Screen -Devdas. So let's get started.

What do you think, which idea is better to write as a book/novel or act as a movie? And which one do you prefer?

This is a great question and the answer to it will be different for different people. The author writes a book or novel by mixing the sweetness of his mind. The author writes the characters and stories of his book or novel in such a way that the reader reads the story with great enthusiasm. There are many such writers like Rabindranath Tagore, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay etc. They write their writings in such a way that every moment is written in detail and emotionally. The stories of books or novels attract the reader repeatedly, so they become famous and movies are made from the stories of those books.

Now coming to movies, movies give real form to the stories of books. There are many of us who like to watch acting. From a book or novel, we can make a story into a fantasy, but from this story, it is revealed in reality through movies. I read different types of books or novels, but I prefer to express reality from fiction, so I like to watch movies.

Watch the movie based on which book or novel:

I watched the movie based on the novel Devdas by writer Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. Devdas is released in Bollywood movies. This story is a thrilling story and is very famous. So it is a Bollywood movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 2002. The main characters in this movie were two famous actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. The thrilling stories from the novel Devdas have been revealed through this movie.

The movie based on this famous novel received a lot of publicity. This movie was made with a budget of about fifty crores. This movie is so famous that it has been translated into six languages such as English, French, Japanese, Thai, Punjabi and Mandarin. Many people may not read the novel or book, but almost everyone watches the movie. This famous novel makes the stories more exciting through this movie.

This story is about the unfinished love story of the main character Devdas. There are two boys and a girl named Devdas. Devdas is the son of a landlord and Parul was the daughter of a small house. Devdas and Parul grow up at the same time and their friendship is unparalleled. They grow up at the same time, although Devdas is sent to Kolkata for studies. But their friendship eventually turns into love.

At that time, boys took very little time from girls for marriage and marriages were completed according to different castes and customs. But Devdas and Parul's love was honored by Parul's mother and she proposed marriage to Devdas's mother. But Devdas's mother rejected the proposal saying that she was from a different caste and not the daughter of the landlord. The landlord agreed with Devdas' mother.

Devdas' mother insulted Parul's mother a lot and then Parul's mother arranged a marriage for Parul with another influential landlord. But Devdas loves Parul very much and so does Parul. However, Parul marries another landlord to insult her mother and obey her mother. On the other hand, Devdas and Parul become crazy about each other.

On the other hand, the landlord to whom Parul marries, after the death of his first wife. So even though he gives Parul everything, the landlord does not give her the dignity of a wife, but Parul always loves Devdas. Parul fulfills her duties honestly in the family life of her in-laws' house, but in her heart she loves Devdas very much.

When Devdar leaves for Kolkata, he meets another girl and starts to like her, but he can never forget Parul.

After a few days, Devdas realizes that he will not live much longer, so he wants to see Parul's face before he dies. So he goes to Parul's in-laws' house and wants to see Parul there. However, he does not see Parul anymore and dies near Parul's house in a pitiful state. Parul, knowing this, rushes to see Devdas, but the people of Parul's in-laws do not let him cross the threshold of the house. This is where the film or novel ends.

Here, the author basically wants to convey that the cruelty and superstitious customs of the Bengali society of that time are tied to a sacred love.

What can you say about the strengths and weaknesses of the film compared to the book/novel that you saw above, but if you have not read the book, then tell us which part of the film impressed you the most and if you want to write a book on the film, then how will that part be written to impress the reader?

Strength of the film compared to the novel:

The author of the novel describes the characters but the moments of reality in the film are revealed in a juicy way. Here, each character has become a reality in the film. This writing is the novel of that time, but now the director has highlighted the customs of the people of that time by releasing this film.

In this story, a sacred love succumbs to ugly and dirty customs. But their love was so pure that they lived their lives on their own responsibility. They never disrespected their family and did not want to lose their love. The author expressed these in his thoughts but made them reality through the movie.

The system of that time in the novel may not have been so colorful but now the system has been colored in this movie.

The movie is weak compared to the novel

The novel gives a detailed description of the story, characters and emotions which is not always possible in the movie. The way the characters are explained in the novel but the acting of the actors is slightly different from the novel. The movie tries to stay close to the original story, while some movies make some changes to add novelty to the story. The movie makes some thrilling and scene changes to attract the audience.

The last part of this novel or movie fascinated me more. Where Devdas wants to die on his deathbed near the person he loves and sees his face. On the other hand, Parul is not given to see Devdas. But the cruel society no longer unites them.

Any writer or viewer who sees or reads this novel or movie will be impressed. So I don't think there is any need to change any part of this novel or movie.
