views on this topic for this week. I want to thank @steem4nigeria for organizing this contest. this will give me the opportunity to express all that was kept inside of me. I just hope you enjoy reading.
✅What do you understand by tough/challenging season of life?
Tough or Challenging season of life are what people call hard times. A period when your life is in test of who you really are and how you can handle problems.
Tough time can really define who we truly are, because it will test our mental toughness and probably shake the foundation of our integrity.
Challenges makes life beautiful, in the sense that life will boring if we don't have challenges to check our ability to handle the reality of life.
✅Have you ever experienced a very tough season of your life that almost broke you? If yes, share with us
This should have been a long story but I will cut it short just to avoid boredom while reading.
Fasten Your seatbelt let's dive. 2021 would have been my best year if not for the tragic incident that got me bedridden for close to 3 months. I nearly lost my life in the process. I have never had such terrific health challenge.
Hypertension is one of the silent killer. It is the only health challenge that can take your life without you knowing you had it.
I want to be honest with you. I never knew anything about hypertension until I was struck by it in November 2021.
I started having lightness in the head, racing heartbeat, dizziness and other symptoms like serious headache. I didn't really understand those symptoms so I swiftly went to a laboratory and got diagnosed of malaria and typhoid fever.
The lab. test result
That was a problem to me because I went to the pharmacy and got myself an antimalarial drugs, thinking it will relieve me.
The malaria drugs
After taking the drugs for a couple of days without seeing any changes or improvement I then went back to the pharmacy to know what was literally wrong with me.
In my room while bedridden
.After a couple of test and vital signs check I was diagnosed with serious hypertension that was reaching up to 200 systolic and 90 diastolic. This was alarming. I never knew that I was genetically prone to it. My Dad is hypertensive. However, my Dad is old. Mine was too early. I'm only in my early 30s. I couldn't continue with my business and career. Everything was at a standstill. I couldn't bear the banes and pains that comes with hypertension. But I'm glad that God came through.
Outside my apartment with kids just to feel the breeze outside
I battled with the ailment from November of 2021 to February of 2022.
✅How did you manage to scale through that phase
First, it was not easy but God saw me through. I nearly lost my life if not for my friends.
Ubong Luke my best friend gave me some tips and hints that could help me manage the situation.
Koffi Iniobong and Daramfon Sapiens kept in touch with me on the phone on a regular. This also helped me cope.
My ex girlfriend Elizabeth Etim rallied around with the cooking and buying of groceries, plus fruits. She was there to make sure I get back on my feet.
My Mum borrowed me some money to purchase drugs and other basic necessities.
At the hospital to get proper medical attention
Imaobong Stephen took me to the hospital where she was working just to give me an intensive treatment and care.
Here is a link to the post I made about her deeds: https://steemit.com/steem4nigeria/@tempestinyang/the-diary-game-or-12-01-2022-or-or-a-visit-to-the-hospital-for-intensive-medical-checkup
The doctor gave me counselling, advice, and therapy on how to cope with the health challenge.
Here are his advice:
✓. Exercise regularly.
✓. Cut down on salt intake.
✓. Eat only home cooked meals. If you can, cook it yourself.
✓. Drink a lot of water.
✓. Sleep better by increasing your sleeping time.
✓. Take your medicine religiously.
✓. Stay away from anxiety and stress.
Some blood tonics to help me recover
I literally followed his tips and I recovered after one month and two weeks.
It really worked. After a while I stopped depending on drugs since the side effects was overwhelming.
I bought myself a bicycle and start exercising almost everyday except Sundays.
The bike
✅If you were offered a million dollars to go through that ugly phase again, will you gladly do?
I can never try that. That will be too risky. It was a life and death issue. What if I die in the process of risking my priceless life for a couple of millions that's not enough to buy life.
It was one of the worst feelings I have ever felt. That experience will never erode my medulla oblongata.
I like to use this opportunity to invite my friends to participate in the contest.
Here they are : @okokon @nsisong2022 @julitbella @destinedhanik and @jemilatbuhari
