Discuss on the Topic Animal Husbandry

Animal husbandry is the branch of agriculture that focuses on the rearing of different livestock such as fish, goats, cows, and so on. Most importantly, we raise these animals for meat, eggs, as well as breeding of these animals in order to be useful for mankind.

Management of these animals is necessary, and we must care for them in order to earn good profit returns as well as to enjoy high nutritional value. Many farmers rely on animal husbandry for their own livelihood, particularly the dairy products obtained from cows, goats, and so on, which contain high nutrients of protein that we need in our body. The raising of livestock is self-employment for some people because it's the only way they generate income to support their families.

Discuss the Types of Animal Husbandry you know

We have different kinds of animal husbandry practiced in the world; some of them are stated below:

➡️Fish farming: This type of animal husbandry involves rearing fish in tanks or ponds for business purposes. In today's world, there is a high demand for fish due to the protein it contains. In the community where I live, there are ponds available which are used to breed different species such as catfish, tilapia, and so on.

➡️Dairy farming: This type of animal husbandry deals with the long-term production of milk from animals, which is later processed into dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, and cream. These animals are well-treated against diseases because healthy animals are physically fit. Farmers use their hands or machines in order to extract milk from the animals.

➡️Poultry farming: This type of animal husbandry is established for rearing different livestock such as geese, turkeys, hens, ducks, and so on. Farmers domesticate them for both meat and eggs. Poultry farming is mainly created for commercial purposes so that farmers can earn good money in return. The feces of poultry birds are used by farmers to improve soil fertility.

➡️Bee farming: This type of animal husbandry is also known as apiculture. Bee colonies are placed in one location called a bee yard. Beekeepers keep the bees for honey in order for humans to make use of it.

Talk about the challenges encountered in Animal Husbandry and the solution to these challenges

Farmers face a lot of challenges when it comes to animal husbandry. The most common challenge is mismanagement because some people do not take the time to properly monitor the raising of domestic animals, so they hire others or friends to be the managers without proper training or years of experience. Mismanagement occurs because they do not approach it as if it were their own.

Lack of care is another major problem that farmers face because the drugs used to treat different kinds of animal diseases are too costly nowadays.

Solution:

• Farm management is necessary because it will improve the lives of domesticated animals. Farm management includes cleanliness of the house as well as proper medicine to improve their health.

• A committee must be set up by the federal government to regulate the problems of animal husbandry in order to identify those challenges.

• Farmers need to have full access to funds because most of them lack capital to expand their livestock business. And lastly security is also necessary by employing a guard to protect our livestock from theft.
