What do you understand by mechanized farming and also Manual farming

Mechanized farming is the type of farming that involves the use of modern equipment such as tractors, drones, harvesters, bulldozers, planters, and so on. Some farmers who are wealthy have the ability to purchase this machinery in order to make their work easier on the farm as well as to reduce the stress that farmers face. It improves agricultural efficiency and ensures that food production is surplus in the market.

Whereas manual farming is the process of using manpower or hand tools such as hoes, cutlasses, shovels, and others to practice farming. This method of agriculture has been used for a long time. In fact, most people in rural areas still use it today to bring food to the tables of their families.

Discuss on the Advantages and Disadvantages of Mechanized and manual farming

Here are the advantages and disadvantages of mechanized farming.

Advantages of Mechanize Farming

➡️Mechanized farming saves a lot of time for farmers, which increases their productivity compared to manual farming, where many farmers waste most of their precious time on a single task.

➡️It reduces the shortage of labor on the farm, addressing the problem of looking for people to work for you on the farm.

➡️The use of this machinery also reduces manual hazards or injuries that may occur as a result of using manual tools on the farm.

Disadvantages of Mechanize farming:

• It requires a lot of capital to purchase this machinery, showing that small farmers may not be able to afford it.

• It cannot be easily maintained, so it requires skilled technicians to address this problem; if such technicians are not available, the owner may abandon it and it may gradually spoil.

• Those who can operate the machinery must be experts; nowadays, not everyone can operate this machinery, becoming a barrier for farmers. In fact, those willing to operate this machinery must undergo proper training.

Advantage of Manual Farming:

• Many farmers still use manual farming due to the lack of need for refueling, making it very easy to maintain for those who primarily rely on it.

• It is also easy to cut down trees as well as weeds that can prevent plants from germinating.

• The price of purchasing manual tools is cheap compared to mechanized farming.

Disadvantages of Manual Farming:

➡️Manual farming is slower, which is why it takes more than a week for a farmer to complete farm work.

➡️Farmers who continue to use manual farming will experience low productivity and it is mostly used on small land.

➡️ It requires physical effort in order to cultivate the land for planting different crops of their choice.

Which of them do you think is best and give reasons for your answers

Mechanized farming is the best because it's good to shift from manual to mechanized farming so that there will be an increase in productivity, and it will also ensure that farmers meet the demand of the buyers at the right time. It reduces the cost for farmers on large areas of land, and it will work perfectly and faster than what 20 workers can do.

During the harvesting period, mechanized farming will work effectively and efficiently to harvest our farm products for us without experiencing much stress. These harvesting machines can remove chaff from the grain that may occur in the process.
