Hello steemians, it is my greatest pleasure to once again share my knowledge about deforestation, the illegal act should be stopped, because it endangers the life of both man and animals, deforestation of forests can lead to desert, thereby leading to lesser production of crops for consumption.

What Do you understand by Deforestation

Deforestation is known to be the indiscriminate falling of trees, forests, which is usually because of human activities such as, agricultural development, infrastructural development. This is also classified to be the illegal felling of trees without replanting them, which makes the land not fertile causing deserts.

Deforestation can lead to several environmental and social hazards like climate change. In the process of deforestation, the forests absorbed carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide then leads to some climate change. One of the common disasters deforestation causes is soil erosion, This is because the trees have been of good assistance in keeping the soil firm, when the forests are no more the soil begins to experience a high rate of erosion either by water or wind.

Deforestation is an act that poses a lot of threats to wildlife, the environment, and society, here are the key dangers of deforestation ;

• Loss of biodiversity: Forests are known to be home to a lot of animal and plant species, and deforestation is one of the activities that makes them vulnerable to early death.

• Forests also help to regulate the water cycle, and the destruction of them can lead to changes in rainfall patterns, increased risk of flooding, or even reduced water quality.

• Loss of livelihood: Some rural areas solely depend on forests for their livelihoods, and they require this for activities such as gathering, hunting, and agricultural activities.

• Human rights violation: The act of deforestation can also cause human rights to be violated, such as forest displacement, making use of farmers' land for timber, and exploitation of local communities.

• Deforestation can cause the local economy which solely depends on forest management and ecotourism.

• Human health: When the forests are deforested, the risk of getting infected with several diseases becomes high, and individuals suddenly become prone to malaria and other kinds of vector-borne diseases.

Deforestation can be reduced through the implementation of adequate management practices, community engagement, and policy interventions. Here are the methods I feel can best help reduce deforestation.

1. Selective logging: selectively harvest trees to make sure that the forests are not cleared.

2. Reforestation: This is when individuals are engaged in planting new trees to replace the ones that have been deforested, helping to maintain a good environment.

3. Protected areas: There should also be a creation of protected environments, like game reserves, wildlife reserves, and national parks is a good way of safeguarding the forest.

4. Community-led conservation: This is when the higher authorities (general government empower communities to take part in conserving the forests around them.

5. Education and awareness: This is when individuals get to know about the importance of conservation/reforestation and the dangers of deforestation which will help to easily conserve wildlife.
