Agriculture story #28//Caterpillar invasion of Plant. A call for rescue
Hello dearest Steemians and Agro community, greetings. I believe we are all good. This is me calling for rescue from my fellow agriculturist.
Caterpillars Threatened My Apple tree and other plants.
I woke up this morning to see a shocking damage of this invader on my Apple tree and my farm. I am still in shock how come they are all over the tree and so big.
We are In the heart of the rainy season, But my Apple tree just finished it first fruit season, well fruitfull and sweet. But the invasion of this caterpillar still surprises me and I need help on how to control it.
The Apple plant is tall and big. It was just about going into the second season of production, bursting with fresh green leaves and tender shoots, an unexpected invasion began. It wasn’t a storm, nor a disease it was something far more silent and subtle: caterpillars.
Their striking red bodies with white spikes even appeared so scary for me even to approach it. But within days, their numbers multiplied. And the causes alot of damage to the plant.
I searched for the name and it was identified as caterpillars, a larvae of a butterfly species from the Papilionidae family, showed a clear preference for the fresh, soft shoots of my trees. They chewed through leaf after leaf, skeletonizing the plants and leaving behind ragged branches.
These invaders are capable of drastically damages a whole farm and causing economic losses to farmers. For a small-scale farmer like me, this wasn't just a pest problem it was a potential harvest crisis.
I knew I had to act fast, but how to act was my biggest challenge because the apple plant is a big one, and I can't climb it to spray because it all over the tree.
What do you have to say about this invaders and how to prevent it quickly to avoid more damage.
My called for suggestions. Thank you
