The Future of Agriculture Lies in Our Hands.

Honestly farming is not only farming but it is the vein of every community and it nourishes people, powers economies and links people to the natural world. Recently, agriculture has been changing very rapidly. The sector that used to heavily rely on manual labor is slowly taking a new shape following the use of technology, innovation, and sustainability.

The emergence of smart farming could also be considered among some of the most exciting developments. Using technologies such as drones, satellite monitoring, and precession irrigation allows farmers to monitor the health of crops, pest management, and control, and resource spending. What this implies is that less resources are needed to grow more food and wastes are minimized as well as environmental degradation.

The urban farming is also increasing. Urban dwellers are also farming rooftops, in pots, even inside vertical indoor farms using LED on the hydroponic system. The contemporary methods will contribute towards decreasing food miles and delivering fresher fruits and vegetables to city dwellers.

Nonetheless, there are obstacles even though some of them have been eliminated. Climate change, soil degradation, also loss of young people to the urban areas pose a threat to agriculture. To solve this, youth need to be encouraged to view farm life and farming careers with excitement and meaning, not desperation. Not only can education, access to funding, and mentorship help them change their mindsets but education, access to funding, and mentorship can make significant changes in their thinking.

More so, eco-friendly methods of cultivation like crop rotation, organic manure, and agro forestry should be promoted. Not only are these practices environmentally friendly but also they guarantee that their future progenies obtain productive land.

To summarize, agriculture is not plows and hoes anymore. It is an area that promises to have a lot to offer in case open-minded folks are ready to think out of the box. It is in our hands whether the future of agriculture is in technology, through environmental care, or empowering the youth: we need to nurture agriculture wisely.
