Agriculture is not just planting seeds and harvesting crops but it is also the beating heart of life. Since the inception of the sun in the morning touching the ground to the fall of rain in the evening, the farmers go round like clockwork to keep human beings alive. The patience, the endurance and the hope of each and every grain of rice, every ear of corn, every fruit upon our tables, is a story.

Farming is not only a job in most of the rural communities, but it is a lifestyle, a tradition that has been in existence since time immemorial. It inculcates the ethos of diligence, religious belief and natural admiration. The experience of being able to see seeds sprout and then bloom into well-grown plants teaches us that things may be small but their development may have begun. Even the smallest seed with proper care, attention, and time can provide food to a family or a nation.

Agriculture is changing today. The fields have also been embraced by technology which has brought with it the modern irrigation systems, drone crop monitoring, and the digital means of forecasting weather patterns. These inventions enable farmers to have more food with less use of resources. However, in all these developments, the spirit of agriculture is still very human, the feel of hands in the earth, the beat of the seasons, and the silent rain prayers.

The world now aims at sustainable farming. People are getting to know that environmental safety and world hunger should go hand in hand. Organic farming, agroforestry and regenerative agriculture is transforming the traditional method of food production and making sure that people in the future will have a fertile soil and clean air.

Farming is not about growing things and livestock - it is about affiliation. It helps us to relate with nature, our societies, and our backgrounds. When we recognize the process that food follows as soil-to-table, we understand that each farmer is a hero who is unknown because they are not only planting seeds, but hope, the only hope, which keeps the world alive.
