The natural environment and living surrounded by greenery always attract me. Even in the busyness of modern mechanical life, whenever I get time, I try to plant some trees with my own hands. Plants not only enhance beauty, but are also very beneficial for the human body and mind. Recently, I planted a brinjal tree in my hobby garden. The joy is that the tree is now bearing brinjals. This experience is not just farming for me, but a source of self-satisfaction and mental peace.

Preparation for planting brinjal trees

First of all, I planned where to plant the trees. I selected an empty space behind the house. I had to work hard to prepare the soil. First, I cleared the weeds. Then I dug the soil well and mixed cow dung, organic fertilizer and some vermicompost. I made the soil loose and suitable for brinjal cultivation.

Sowing seeds or seedlings:

I buy good quality brinjal seedlings directly from the nursery instead of making seedlings from seeds. Because it saves time and the seedlings have a higher chance of survival. I planted each seedling with a gap of about 2-2.5 feet.

Irrigation and care:

Initially, I had to water regularly. However, I was careful not to let excess water accumulate. I also watered only when the soil was a little dry. I cleaned the weeds regularly. I also applied organic liquid fertilizer occasionally so that the plant grew quickly.

Brinjal tree growth stage

In the first 7-10 days, the roots of the plant started to get strong. The stem of the plant became strong. Then the number of leaves gradually started to increase. In about a month, the plant became quite thick. Then I realized that the plant was healthy.

Flowering time:

A month and a half after planting, small brinjal flowers started to appear. Seeing those beautiful pink flowers filled my heart with joy. Then I realized that my hard work was not in vain. The plant blossomed. Small fruits started to take shape from those flowers.

Joyful moment of picking brinjal

When I first saw a small brinjal on the branch of the tree, it felt like my own child had been born. That small eggplant started growing day by day. It looked shiny purple. I started taking more care of it after seeing the first fruit. Within a few days, one tree bore about 7-8 eggplants.

Later, tree after tree was filled with eggplants. Neighbors came to see it and praised it. Everyone said, “How did you grow such beautiful eggplants?” In response to this question, I proudly said—“I just took care of it with care and gave it regular love.”

Care experience and problems

Along with taking care of the eggplant tree, I also had to face some problems. Specifically,

Insect attack:

Eggplants are attacked more by insects, especially fruit borers. I dealt with it organically. I sprayed neem oil.

Yellowing of leaves:
First, if some leaves turn yellow, I understand that there may be a problem with the soil. Then I give additional organic fertilizer. After that, the problem decreases.

Damage from excessive rain:
During the rainy season, the roots of the tree start to soften due to excessive water accumulation. Then I ensure drainage system so that water does not accumulate.

Moment of fruit collection

In about two months, the eggplant starts to grow in full swing. Then I collect the first fruit. If I cut the fruit while the stalk is still firm, more fruit will come later. I collect about one kilogram of eggplant on the first day. I use that eggplant to make delicious eggplant fritters at home. While cooking and feeding my mother, she says, “The eggplant from my own tree tastes different.”

After that, I had to pick eggplant two or three times every week. I also shared it with friends, relatives, and neighbors. Seeing the smiles on their faces, I felt that this hard work was worthwhile.

Mental peace and education

I have learned a lot from this eggplant cultivation. I have realized very well how important patience, care, and regular maintenance are in human life.

Trees not only give us fruits and crops, but also teach us—

How to work hard.
How to be patient in times of crisis.
How to coexist with nature.

Conclusion

This entire journey of growing brinjals from my brinjal tree was joyful, educational and fulfilling. Not only did a small tree bear fruit, but it also lit a new light of inspiration in my life.

I believe that every person should plant at least some fruit and vegetable trees on their rooftops, in their yards or in any vacant space. This will not only benefit their family but also the environment. And there is no comparison to this joy.
