Agricultural Story #26

Hello everyone On this occasion I want to participate in a contest held by @ruthjoe about Contest | Farming Stories #26 following my previous entry I would like to invite my friends @pea07 , @goodybest and @abdullahw2 to participate in this contest

The following morning, the sky was still orange when I went to the rice fields with the northwest of the village. The pollen for a brassica crop was spreading in big clouds and the tips of the rice leaves were still covered in dew and the sound of bubbling water from a small river running on the side of the paddy interrupted my steps. In the distance, I saw farmers beginning to descend to the fields hoisting hoes and high hopes.

I chose to photograph a few things: The combs of rice plants that had begun to yellow, the current of the river that fed the rice fields and a cluster of mothers sitting beneath a tree, making food for their working families. One of them is wrapping rice in banana leaves — warm white rice, chili shrimp paste sauce and fried salted fish; simple, but meaningful and flavorful food.

I then pointed the camera at the rice plants swaying gently in the wind. Each leaf seemed to speak, telling the story of the long months since the seeds were sown until now it was almost harvest time. The river beside the rice fields was no less interesting—its water was clear, flowing calmly, reflecting the morning clouds and blue sky. Children were seen playing on the riverbank, occasionally throwing flat stones and competing to make them jump on the water.

As day progressed the life grew more and more lively. Farmers had begun to replant a fallow field, while others were harvesting chilies and vegetables. There were the smells of damp earth, combined with the smells of food being cooked in kitchens on the periphery of the flooded rice fields, the traditional dishes of cassava leaf curry and grilled fish.
