Deforestation is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to non-forest use. Forests contribute significantly to the equilibrium of ecosystem, by absorbing CO2, generating O2, and serving as habitat for millions of flora and fauna. So when you clear a forest without conservation, the effect can be life-shattering on planet Earth.

Deforestation threats are far-reaching, impacting many facets of life. Impact on climate is one of the major effects. When trees are cut down, more carbon dioxide escapes into the atmosphere, because it no longer gets stored by the trees. It intensifies the greenhouse effect and global warming. In addition to this deforestation leads to loss of biodiversity as species lose their homes and food sources. Therefore, some animals might even go extinct.

Deforestation also heightens the possibility of natural calamities like flood and land-slides, as tree roots, that hold water and soil, are planted. From a human vantage point, deforestation can cause clean water scarcity, diminished agricultural yields linked to climate change, and warmer environmental temperatures that make existence evermore uncomfortable.

In the cause of stopping deforestation, the role of government, community and private sectors have to work together. One way to help is reforestation — planting new trees on deforested land. And the government must enforce stringent rules against illegal logging, and punish those who break the law. The promotion of green-friendly technology should also be promoted, such as the replacement of wood-based materials.

The public can also help in simple ways, such as by using less paper, not buying products from companies that clearcut, and supporting products that carry some form of environmental certification. Education and campaigns on the way protecting forests must be kept up to continue to educate the public.

When we protect our forests, we preserve the wonders of the natural world and we help make sure that the next generations will walk in beauty. All side must treat the deforestation issue serious because without forest the earth will lose its lungs and man's life will be at risk.
