In one of my many stays in the city of Amsterdam, a city known for its unique architecture and rich history in the second post I shared here I leave you my first tour and to know its bars and navigate its river, is now home to a new tourist attraction and its arts for all tastes today I bring you the second part of: the STRAAT Museum of Urban Art where you will find thousands of urban arts of different artists and genres in my opinion more art is outside the museum as there are many more graffiti. This museum is a tribute to the culture of graffiti and its evolution over the years, as here in the museum I could see that there are photos and paintings very long-lived, nothing contemporary.

In this post, we will explain the story behind the creation of the museum and the fascinating story of a traveler who has left his mark on the city of Amsterdam and its graffiti culture or urban art as it is usually called in almost everywhere and parts, as he passed through this great museum that I went completely inside out or upstairs as it has two floors full of culture, paintings, graffiti and sculptures of all genres, so enjoy this complete tour of urban art.

The history of the STRAAT Museum of Urban Art in Amsterdam The STRAAT Museum of Urban Art is the result of collaboration between the municipal government and the local art community and other parts of the art world or the urban art world. The aim of the museum is to show the importance of urban art in contemporary culture and its impact on society.since here as in much of the world they like urban art as reflected here The museum has a wide variety of exhibitions ranging from the history of graffiti to the present as I commented in the beginning for me the outside is better and with more brutal murals , through the evolution of urban art in different parts of the world.where great exhibitors come to express their art freely in this great museum .

The story of a traveler: the evolution of graffiti in Amsterdam has been a key place in the evolution of graffiti in Europe as I think it is the largest museum of all and only with urban art I say this from my point of view I do not know if here in Europe there are more museums so I would have to investigate much more. In the decade of 1970, the graffiti began to appear on the walls of the city the years was modifying or updating to express their repudiation more than everything to the governments or states they were more than everything a form of expressing themselves then they happened to be dedications of love or drawings of the graffiti artists in their moment

The graffiti scene in Amsterdam was driven by the arrival of American artists who were looking for new forms of expression, as mentioned above. Among them was a traveler named “JR”, who became a key figure in the graffiti scene in Amsterdam, as he was the most famous and recognized of all around here and he painted everything in his path with his stamps or graffiti.

JR, whose real name is Jean-René Oosterlinck a great street graffiti rebel , began painting on the walls of the city in the 1990s to spread his art or his fury and street lifestyle of the time His unique style , which combined letters and geometric figures very famous and colorful as well as his recognition of his unique style in the city , became an icon of Amsterdam graffiti as everyone acclaim and love his style and expressions . His work was not only limited to the city, but also spread to other places in the world, such as Paris and New York, to become recognized for his great talent and audacity for street art.

Throughout the years, JR has been part of important urban art projects in several art galleries and museums in several important countries, including the creation of murals in different parts of the city where he traveled he left his fingerprint on the walls or murals without a moment's hesitation he dedicated himself to do only his work. His work has been recognized by the artistic community and has been the subject of numerous exhibitions in museums and art galleries, one of the greatest graffiti artists in history and most recognized worldwide.

The importance of the STRAAT Museum of Urban Art in Amsterdam
The STRAAT Museum of Urban Art in Amsterdam is a testimony to the importance of urban art in contemporary culture and graffiti not only in Amsterdam but also in the whole world through its expressions or visualizations. The museum's exhibition shows the evolution of graffiti over the years and its impact on society. Since its inauguration it has not ceased to cater to all types of general public,

In my passage through the museum I see many young people or teenagers making their art booklets in their notebooks trying to imitate these works or simply improve them. The museum also has an important collection of urban art works of different graffiti artists , including works by JR and other artists . The main works for being local have much more privileges than the others.

A place for creativity and expression The STRAAT Museum of Urban Art Amsterdam is a place where creativity and expression can flourish as I told you that it motivates curious or young people to explore it and they recreate these or better graffiti than the ones found here on these two floors full of street art and their cultures. The museum offers a space for artists and the community to connect and share their ideas and projects for future exhibitions worldwide.
