Brisk Ella Retreat Hotel, Kumbalwela
Ella is one of the main tourism centers in Sri Lanka, surrounded by misty mountains, tea plantations, amazing landscapes, and breathtaking views. Thousands of visitors come here daily to have a peaceful getaway and escape from the busy routines.
So, hotels & restaurants; there are hundreds of them, and it's a never-ending industry in the area. Brisk Ella Retreat is not a five-star hotel, but for people who are looking for a cozy place, for a reasonable price, this will be one of the options for you!
The Location
Brisk Ella Retreat is located in Kumbalwela, 3km away from Ella Town. From Mahamewuna Asapuwa junction, we have to travel around 3.5km up the mountain road. There are many nearby attractions like the Nine Arch Bridge, the monastery, Little Adam’s Peak, and Ella Rock, so it's always convenient for any further plans.
The road is in somewhat good condition, and you can either hire a tuk-tuk for around LKR. 500 (12.5 Steem)/ take a private vehicle. There is plenty of space available for on-site parking for free.

Well, it's located in a foothill of the Namunukula mountain range, in a cool neighbourhood. Well, besides the tea plantations, the vegetation, and animals, there is no one within 1km. The entrance is well-presented, and we were treated by a receptionist, and after filling in some details, the keys were given to us.

Facilities
Well, as I said earlier, it's not a big hotel. There are just 4 rooms, with a separate entrance and with an exciting view.
Cozy & Comfortable Rooms
The rooms are clean, well-lit, and come with modern essentials. The Bedroom has a 5*6 bed with a 9" spring mattress, along with clean sheets, towels, etc. There's a tea maker in all rooms, along with the essential ingredients. There's a separate table, a clothes rack, a changing table, etc, as well for the convenience.

The bathroom is clean, and there are hot water facilities, as the area is in a cold climate.
Breathtaking View
Well, this is the highlight of the place after all. You will see a panoramic view through the lush greenery up to the horizon. You will be amazed, especially watching the sunset and sunrise from here.

Two rooms have private balconies that open up to the mountains and valleys to enjoy the view. It's the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee. And also, there's a safe Hammock to make things more interesting.

On the upper floor, there's a separate dining area. Normally there is an onsite restaurant, but as this the off season, they have shut it down and brought our requests from the outside. The food was delicious, and they arranged all on time. We requested a mixed fried rice for dinner. And an English breakfast, and string hopper for breakfast. There were fresh fruit, bread, butter, jam, and coffee which were good.

- Other than that, if needed, they arrange an Airport shuttle/ or tours for an additional fee.
The Prices
Well, as I said earlier, the prices are reasonable considering the facilities and other hotels in the nearby area. With breakfast, it's around Lkr.14,000 (350 Steem) per couple. Anyway, we received a juicy discount for Lkr.11,000. You can see the prices and info from here.
Overall Experience
So, overall, we had an excellent time there. It's located in a peaceful location, with beautiful scenery, close to major attractions. And also, it's budget-friendly. The owner and staff are supportive and provide good service.
I highly recommend this place for anyone.

I stayed at a similar kind of place last year and loved how peaceful and laid-back everything felt. If you're looking for something more in the city but still chill, bencoolen hotel sg gave me a similar cozy vibe with super friendly staff and a quiet setup even though it's central.
