A Rainy but Unforgettable Evening at the Orientalys Festival 2024 – Montreal
On August 9, 2024, in a Montreal still bathed in the golden lights of a capricious end of summer where the rain and the sunny spells played hide and seek with the sky, my son Yahya and I decided to venture to the Old Port to experience a different day, carried by the promise of a unique sensory journey offered by the Orientalys Festival, this annual meeting which, every summer, transforms the Quai de l'Horloge into a vibrant crossroads of oriental cultures blending ancestral traditions and contemporary creations, in a joyful burst of sounds, dances, flavors and colors.

As soon as we arrived, under a still mild sky but full of promises of showers, we chose to begin our journey with a visit to the initiation workshops, nestled under vast colorful tents, where the art and soul of oriental civilizations were expressed generously through delicate calligraphy, demonstrations of Mongolian craftsmanship and the deep sounds of traditional instruments, each stand being an invitation to slow down, to immerse yourself in a gesture, to listen. a story told with the tips of our fingers or whispered by a voice coming from elsewhere, and this is how we were captivated by a master calligrapher, whose precise and elegant gestures transformed simple white sheets into majestic works, all under the fascinated gaze of visitors, among whom Yahya, amazed, followed each line, each curve, as if he were witnessing the silent birth of a poem.

After this slow and deep immersion in the arts, while the first drops of rain began to patter on the fabric of the tents, we continued our stroll discovering the space dedicated to Mongolian culture, where a traditional yurt, carefully assembled, revealed its colorful fabrics, its musical instruments with distant sounds and its furniture painted with secular motifs, while outside proudly flew the Mongolian flag, waving as desired. of a light wind as if to remind visitors of the invitation to travel and discover distant lands where man still lives in close harmony with nature.

When night set in, gradually enveloping the platforms in a dark veil pierced with luminous halos and reflections in the puddles, we joined the TD Stage, the real beating heart of the festival, where the music, laughter and applause defied the ambient humidity, and it was there, among a compact and joyful crowd, armed with umbrellas and dressed in multi-colored ponchos, that we witnessed a wild performance by the DJ Sam, whose electrifying beats and multicolored light effects transformed the space into an immense open-air dance floor, the rain itself seeming to give way under the power of the rhythm, while Yahya, fascinated, danced in turn under the flashes of the spotlights, a moment of rare intensity that we took care to capture on video to keep the memory vibrant forever.
The highlight of this evening was undoubtedly the arrival on stage of the Algerian singer, whose powerful voice and captivating melodies, mixing chaâbi, raï and modern influences, instantly warmed hearts and lifted the crowd, each note resonating in the humidity of the night like a declaration of love for the party and for life, while Yahya and I, carried away by the general enthusiasm, let ourselves be overwhelmed by the communicative energy of the music, forgetting the cold and the rain, fully living the moment, hand in hand in the heart of a sea of smiles and dances.

When the last notes faded into the wet sky, we took the path back along the cobbled streets of Old Montreal, where the luminous arches decorated with red flowers still sparkled, like benevolent sentinels watching over the walkers, each reflection in the puddles drawing a moving and magical picture, and so it was, with the golden light of the garlands in our eyes, the distant echo of songs and songs in our ears. in the heart the sweet warmth of memories, as we concluded this day, grateful for these suspended moments that only the magic of festivals can offer.
The Orientalys Festival, through its free access and abundant wealth, has once again been able to abolish borders by offering a space where art, music and the heritage of oriental civilizations come together to weave, over the course of a few days, an immense living fresco, where each visitor in turn becomes the bearer of stories, dreams and shared emotions, and where even the rain, far from tarnishing the experience, seems to participate in this unique alchemy where everything becomes possible.

It would be good if you could make your sentence length shorter. They very long sentences, as in the opening paragraph, are quite difficult to read.
