On a summer morning, as the sun's gentle rays generously flooded the plains and hills of the Mateur region, my father and I set off in search of sheep for Eid al-Adha. This journey of less than an hour from Oued Ellil offered us an escape from the urban frenzy, leading us to a farm nestled among ancient olive trees and majestic palm trees.

Upon our arrival, a splendid panorama awaited us: the peaceful flocks rested in the generous shade of the trees, their abundant wool testifying to the exemplary care lavished on us by the breeder, a man with a frank gaze and hands marked by working the land, among these sheep, some had already been shorn, revealing freshly cut and carefully arranged wool, while others patiently waited their turn.

We took our time to observe these peaceful animals and select those that would join our home to honor this sacred tradition. My father, with his experience acquired over the years, meticulously examined each animal, checking their general condition, their vigor and their robustness. Aware that this choice was not trivial but carried a deep spiritual meaning, he spoke at length with the breeder, asking questions about the origin, the diet and the daily care given to the animals, to ensure that we made the best possible choice, my children, curious and enthusiastic, accompanied us on this adventure, discovering with wonder this authentic contact with nature, their faces lit up in front of the leaping lambs and the quiet cows in the shade of the olive trees, they took pleasure in observing the breeder at work, mastering with gentleness and efficiency the delicate art of shearing, revealing under the thick wool, the vigorous and healthy appearance of the sheep, they asked many questions, expressing their natural curiosity about life on the farm, breeding and the importance of Eid.

This idyllic setting also offered a special moment to exchange, share memories and anecdotes, while appreciating the serenity that emanated from this place, my father proudly held one of the chosen sheep, symbol of a promise kept, while my children smiled broadly in front of the camera, thus immortalizing these precious moments where transmission of values and family happiness are combined, nearby, we also observed cows grazing peacefully under the refreshing shade of the trees, adding to this rural scene an extra touch of serenity and gentleness, the surrounding landscape extended its natural bounty, dominated by a solitary palm tree, silent emblem of a fertile and generous land, witness to this memorable day where religious tradition and family communion harmoniously met.

As we left, we had a light heart and a serene mind, aware of having fulfilled an ancestral duty with respect and dignity, thus strengthening our family ties and our deep attachment to these traditions that shape our identity. On the way back, we recalled with joy and gratitude each moment lived, eager to soon celebrate this sacred festival in the warmth and family unity.

Best Regards,
