Steem Atlas Ambassador Africa - consolidated guides and action plan

Hello everyone,

I’m the new Steem Atlas Ambassador for Africa. Steem Atlas is an interactive map powered by the Steem blockchain, every place worth sharing can become a geolocated article pinned at its exact location. My mission is to significantly grow Africa’s presence on the Atlas in both quantity and quality, so our cities, neighborhoods, natural sites, markets, cafes, and itineraries are visible, useful, and correctly referenced.

Objectives

• Increase African participation (more authors, places, and consistent posting).
• Improve quality: clear titles, practical info, captioned photos, and a precise pin.
• Support the ecosystem: promote official guides, curation, beneficiaries, and SPS voting.

Two Ways to Publish a Steem Atlas Post

1) Directly on Steem Atlas (“Create Post”)

• Open https://steematlas.com/ → Create Post.

• Place the pin:

  • Click on the map (zoom in to the exact spot, then click), or
  • Use current location if you’re physically on site.

• Pin description: enter place name + city only (e.g., “Olympic Stadium, Rades”).

• Write your post: title, body, images, links, and tags (e.g., steem-atlas, atlasafrica, country tag).

• Rewards & beneficiaries: choose your reward option; add @steem-atlas as a beneficiary (5–10% recommended).

• Publish using your posting key.

2) Via Steemit.com (“Embed Pin”)

• Write your article on steemit.com as usual.

• In another tab, open https://steematlas.com/ → Embed Pin.

• Place the pin (map or current location), then name the pin (place + city).

• Copy the generated pin code from Steem Atlas.

• Paste that code into your Steemit post (ideally at the end for easy verification).

• Do not change the code (especially latitude/longitude) or the pin will be misplaced.

• Publish in the Steem community of your choice, your post will appear in the right spot on the Atlas.

Verify Your Pin (simple check)

• Desktop: find the place on Google Maps, note the latitude/longitude from the URL, then compare with your pin’s coordinates in Steem Atlas.

• Mobile: long-press the exact spot in Google Maps to reveal coordinates, then compare to your Steem Atlas pin.

• This quick check prevents errors and adds value to your post.

Fast Quality Checklist

• Location: pin placed exactly (building/entrance or clear landmark).

• Useful details: access/transport, budget, hours, best time to visit, safety, contacts.

• Original photos: 4–10 images, with captions.

• Clear structure: explicit title, tidy sections, conclusion with one local tip.

• Tags: steem-atlas, atlasafrica, plus the country (tunisia, senegal, ghana, …).

• Beneficiary: add @steem-atlas (supports development).

Curation, Rewards & Older Posts

• Ambassadors check pin accuracy and content quality, curators feature and reward strong posts.

• Also, A weekly reward of 50 Steem will be distributed at the end of each week to the top three users who posted the most high-quality content, with 25 Steem for first place, 15 Steem for second place, and 10 Steem for third place.

• Your older articles can also be recognized if you add them properly to the Atlas (watch official updates).

Publish an African place this week. Set the pin precisely, verify coordinates, paste the Embed Pin code if you post via Steemit.com, use clear tags espicially #atlasafrica, and if you can add @steem-atlas as a beneficiary.
