A journey through the historic center of Castro Urdiales
Castro Urdiales, a town that has witnessed the history of the region for centuries.full of stories that I have ventured to tour its historic center and discovered emblematic places that tell us about its rich and varied history . In this post, I will tell you about the statue of the Fisherman and the importance of the Women Weavers, two of the elements that most caught my attention.Throughout my tour also the lighthouse and the medieval bridge dating back thousands of years as each rock of each of these ancient Roman buildings . that very little is seen in modern Spain .
The Statue of the Fisherman
The first stop was the statue of the Fisherman, a place that has become synonymous with the city. That names the economy as it is dedicated to each person in this specific place. This bronze statue, created by sculptor José Antonio Biedma, is a representation of the roast suckling pig, also to identify each of the fishermen in the area as a local culinary specialty. that they do not forget their roots ever so highlights this statue or monument But it is not a simple statue of a typical dish.se
The statue of the Fisherman has a deeper meaning as it represents the wealth and prosperity that the town has experienced over the centuries and is very good luck for all fishermen returning with their abundant catch of the day and their long day's work. The roast suckling pig has become a symbol of local gastronomy and military hospitality for those who like its taste and meat. The statue also recalls the importance of fishing in the economy of the town, as the fish at the base of the statue represent the fishing past of Castro Urdiales.here a little of the customs and culture of those from Castro Urdiales .
The Women Weavers While exploring the historic center, I came across the Women Weavers, an image that represents the women of the city at the time of weaving. and untangle the fishermen's nets, according to me that their work is undervalued and less documented for being women I see it differently I do not know the others since this work is the same as the others and its difficulty since the fishing nets always tangle The sculpture, also bronze,
shows several women sitting in a square surrounded by fishing nets for their husbands and husbands before going fishing This image is a tribute to the women who have worked for centuries in the city, weaving cloth and creating lozenges that have become iconic of the region.Giving their rightful place to each of those who do this hard work The Women Weavers represent the importance of women in Castro society, as well as the skill and creativity they have demonstrated throughout history.to untangle each fishing net .
With these views and sculptures I say goodbye until I think the 3rd part of this walk through other places and their food that still do not show them , but it will be for the next installment only I will leave little about the according to their website as they do not have instagram a single churrito costs you 0.50 euros or about 4 steem . but they have several combos of churros that start from 12 Euros or about 95 steem.
Historic center website does not apply or no entrance fee is completely free for everyone ,

Saludos
