My Visit to Peshawar Library on Sunehri Masjid Road

I went to the Peshawar Library on Sunehri Masjid Road today around five in the evening and honestly it was an experience I will remember for a long time The moment I stepped inside I felt something different a calmness that the busy roads outside could never give It was like I had walked into another world one that was built for silence focus and reflection

The Study Hall

The first place I entered was the study hall It was full of students sitting in neat rows of chairs each one lost in their books Some were writing quickly as if trying to capture every idea before it escaped others were leaning over pages reading with deep concentration I just stood there for a moment and watched them The quiet in the hall was so powerful it was almost like you could hear the weight of their dreams and their struggles I felt a wave of respect for them and for the space that was helping them

History of the Library

This library is not just any library it has history in every corner It was built back in 1992 under the Directorate of Archives and Libraries and has grown into one of the most important cultural spaces of Peshawar Its location says a lot too it is surrounded by the Governor House the MPA Hostel the Civil Secretariat and the Peshawar Museum As I thought about that I realized this library is placed right at the heart of the city It belongs to everyone but it also feels like a treasure that represents Peshawar itself

A Vision Realised

I learned that the person who worked hard to establish this place was Mr Tariq Mansoor Jalali He believed in creating a space where knowledge would not be lost and where future generations could come to learn Walking through the building I felt grateful for his vision because it truly is a gift to the city

Archives and Rare Collections

The library is home to so many precious documents some of them dating back to 1849 Imagine how much history is stored there records about the Durand Line the Pakhtunistan Movement letters from Quaid e Azam even a rare book called Tareekh i Peshawar

Just knowing all of this is preserved in one place made me feel proud The best part is that they are also digitizing everything so even years from now people will still have access to these treasures I felt like this was not just a building of books but a guardian of memory

Inspired by Students

But what moved me the most during my visit was not only the history it was the people in the study hall The sight of so many young faces working so hard inspired me deeply I thought about how each one of them must have their own story their own struggles and their own hopes Maybe some of them are preparing for a tough exam maybe some are dreaming of becoming doctors or teachers maybe some are just trying to change their lives for the better The silence in that room was not empty it was full of determination and I felt honored just being there

Facilities for Everyone

I also noticed the little things that made the library special There was clean drinking water available both cold and warm and that might seem like a small detail but for someone sitting there for hours it makes a huge difference The hall felt safe bright and welcoming And then I found something that touched my heart even more a prayer area for men tucked inside the building It showed me that this place is not only about feeding the mind but also about taking care of the soul The balance between study and spirituality felt so natural here

Surroundings and Atmosphere

When I stepped outside for a while I noticed the practical things too There was a proper parking area and greenery all around which added a fresh and peaceful feeling I loved how the green plants and trees softened the look of the building and gave it life

It felt like the library was breathing along with the people inside

Marks of Leadership

On the walls there were plaques that reminded me of the people who contributed to this place One of them marked the Islamic Corner opened by Kamran Khan Bangash Another plaque carried the name of Pervez Khattak from December 16 2015 Reading those names and dates reminded me that this library is not a frozen place it is always growing changing and being supported by leaders who value knowledge

By the time I left around six in the evening I felt lighter and more hopeful than when I entered For me the library became more than a building with chairs and shelves it was a safe place full of history and memory a place where young people chase their dreams a place where prayer

and study stand side by side a place surrounded by green life in the middle of a noisy city I walked out smiling thinking that this library is like a quiet heart beating in the middle of Peshawar I knew then that I would come back again not just to see it but to sit among those students with my own books and feel once more the peace and strength that this place offers
There i saw a beautiful scenary of a sculpture of books outside the library
