The propitious site for a grave during the Joseon Dynasty, "Daemosan Mountain".
Daemosan Mountain
- Location : https://naver.me/GPX7OxgP
Daemosan Mountain is located in the south of Gaepo-dong and Ilwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and is about 293m high.
The name of the mountain was called Halmisan Mountain because it looked like an old grandmother, but it was called Daemosan Mountain by the king as the tomb of King Taejong Yi Bang-won and his monument, Queen Wonkyung, was built on the south side of Daemosan Mountain. On the other hand, there is a theory that the two peaks, along with Guryongsan Mountain in the west, resembled a woman's breast and were called Daemosan Mountain.
Daemosan Mountain, known as Myeongdang(propitious site for a grave) during the Joseon Dynasty, has been used as a tomb for royal families for generations, and the tomb of King Sejong, the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty, was also located here. However, King Sejong's tomb was moved to Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do during King Yejong's reign in 1469.
And Inneung, the tomb of King Sunjo, the 23rd king of the Joseon Dynasty, and Queen Sunwon's Kim clan, was built on the west side of Heonneung, and the hanok of Neungchambong(grave caretaker) remains. And to the north of Daemosan Mountain is the tomb of Gwangpyeongdaegun, the fifth son of King Sejong.
It was created as a joint cemetery for the family along with the tomb of Lee Bang-beon and his adoptive father of Gwangpyeong-gun, Muan-gun, and is designated as a tangible cultural heritage site in Seoul.
There is a shelter where you can rest and go in the middle of climbing the mountain, so I recommend you to take your time while enjoying the scenery.
When you reach the top, you can see Jamsil to the northeast, and you can also clearly see Lotte Tower, Jamsil's landmark, which is 555m on the 123rd floor. As expected, the view from the mountain is more wonderful than anything else!
Daemosan Mountain has a well-maintained trail. You can go down to Suseo Station or Yangjae Station, and the milestones are good in between, so you can go down safely without getting lost.
