Yonsei University is a prestigious university that ranks second among all universities in Korea and is by far the first among private universities.
It is a private university of Protestant descent in Korea established in 1885, and its main school is Sinchon Campus located in Sinchon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. On January 5, 1957, Yeonhui University and Severance Medical School merged and changed the school name to Yonsei University, and the first president was Paik Nak-jun.
Yonsei University's Sinchon Campus is about 990,000㎡ surrounded by pine forests, and lecture halls are located on both sides of Baekyang-ro across the center.
At the end of Baekyang-ro, Underwood Hall, where the university headquarters is located, is an iconic building. In the garden square in front of the main building, there is a statue of its founder, H.G. Underwood.
