My Review of the Outdoor Gym in Shalman Park Hayatabad Peshawar | Steem Atlas – Week 1

Hello Steemit family

This is my second post for the Week 1 Steemit Challenge Season 25 Under the Steem Atlas project. In my first post I add an outdoor gym near my house to OpenStreetMap so others can find and visit it too.

Now I am sharing a full review of this place so you can understand how it looks what it offers and why I think its a very useful place for our Community.

1. Brief History

This outdoor gym were developed by Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) around 2018–2019. PDA wanted to give people a free fitness space where they could stay healthy without paying for expensive gym.

Since then this gym has become very Popular among local. Every morning and evening people come here to walk jog and use the machine. There is no official event but the gym itself is a big gift for everyone.

2. Who Owns and Manages the Gym?

This gym is owned and managed by PDA the same department that takes care of roads and parks in Peshawar. There are no private trainers or coaches but PDA workers clean the area and fix machines when needed.

People use the gym freely. There are no rules for timing or dress code but users are expected to behave well and respect others.

3. Entrance and First Look

The gym is inside Shalman Park Phase 2 Hayatabad. When you enter the park you see a clean path with plants on both sides. There are green signboards that show rules of the park.

There is also a parking space near by where people can park their bikes or cars easily. The gym machine are placed in one open area Where you can Clearly see and reach every Machine.

4. Outdoor Area Around the Gym

This is an open air gym and the park around it is very beautiful. Here are the extra features:

  • Jogging Track People walk and run on this smooth track that goes around the park.
  • Mini Football Ground Next to the gym many kids play football here in the evening.
  • Benches For people who want to rest or watch others exercise.
  • Dustbins To keep the park and gym clean.

The gym and park are alway well maintained which makes it safe and clean for everyone.

5. Gym Environment

Even though there no roof the gym area feels good because:

  • Natural sunlight in the morning and evening
  • Fresh air from the trees around
  • Machines are installed on a cemented base which is safe to use
  • The area is cleaned regularly by PDA staff

Its not too crowded and people use the machines politely and take turns.

6. My Experience Using the Gym

I personally used many machines like the Air Walker Leg Press and Push-Up Bars. Since there are no trainers I watched others and followed them.

People there are friendly. Some regular visitors even help me understand how to use some of the machines. The place gives a positive and supportive vibe which I really liked.

7. Other Helpful Facilities

This gym is a part of the park so it also has other useful things:

Washroom

Theres a public toilet near the park’s entrance. It’s clean and regularly maintained. Basic but useful.

Sitting Area

There are benches placed around the gym. Many elderly people or tired visitors sit there to relax.

Filter Water Station

There is a filtered water cooler where people can drink or fill their bottles after workout. The water is clean and cold.

8. What Services Are Offered?

Since this is a public gym there are no paid services or official programs. But:

  • Anyone can use the machines for free
  • All age groups kids adults and elderly come here
  • Sometimes small local fitness groups do stretching or group exercises together

Its simple but useful for everyone who wants to stay active.


9. Rules and Information

There is no registration or fee needed. Just walk in and used it.

  • Timings: 6 AM to 9 PM
  • Fees: None – it’s 100% free
  • Rules: Displayed near the entrance on a board
  • Posters also remind people to use machines carefully and cleanly

10. Eco-Friendly and Special Features

I really liked that:

  • There are many trees making the environment peaceful
  • Dustbins are installed to keep it clean
  • Some solar lights are used for the jogging track
  • Family friendly space safe for kids and elders
  • All machines are fixed properly not broken or dangerous

This outdoor gym in Shalman Park is an amazing place for the community. Its clean safe and completely free for everyone. I go there often and its good for people who cant afford expensive gyms.
