Hello Steemian friends!

I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience visiting Bakery El Khomsa, a well-known bakery and cake shop in the city where I live, it is situated in the Ez Zahra suburb of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia.

For me, going to this bakery is a regular habit whenever I want to enjoy fresh, homemade, and of course delicious products, on Friday, July 25, 2025, I came here with my family with the intention of purchasing bread and sweet pastries to enjoy together over the weekend.

Atmosphere inside the bakery

Around 5:00 PM local time, I arrived at this store in the afternoon, customers were coming in to buy fresh bread and pastries for their dinner, so the store was pretty busy at the time, I was immediately struck by the cozy, spotless, and well-kept atmosphere as soon as I walked in. The design was straightforward but sophisticated, with lots of lighting and tasteful yet understated Tunisian furnishings.

The storefront's large, transparent glass allows customers to directly view the display cases, even from outside, the air inside is cool and comfortable, and the staff behind the counter serves customers with friendliness and dexterity.

Pastry Variety and Service

Bakery El Khomsa offers a tempting variety of products, from traditional Tunisian breads and European-style sweets to modern pastries made with premium ingredients.

I saw a selection of croissants and mini pizza feuilletées, fresh from the oven, still warm and with a tempting buttery aroma. Alongside them were several cakes like banana bread, grain cake, and nut cake.

Croissant: 1.2 TND ≈ 2.93 STEEM
Nature cake: 3.0 TND ≈ 7.32 STEEM
Peanut cake: 3.5 TND ≈ 8.54 STEEM

Sweet cakes and tarts

This showcase offers a very interesting variety of pastries. There's a lemon meringue tart with a thinly baked white topping, a chocolate mousse in a transparent plastic cup, and other small cakes that look very delicate.

Slice Cake (Chocolate, Pistachio, and Cheese Cake)

These cakes are cut into triangles and squares, and come in a variety of flavors: dark chocolate, pistachio, cheese, speculoos, and nuts. The texture and presentation are very neat and tempting.

Tunisian salty and shortbread

This display case displays a variety of Tunisian sablé varieties, such as date-filled makroud, sesame cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and classic shortbread. They're small, perfect for souvenirs or afternoon snacks.

Product Quality and Service

I purchased several products:

1 slice of cake chocolat
1 loaf of complete cereals for 1.5 TND ≈ 3.66 STEEM
1 loaf of semoule for 0.4 TND ≈ 0.98 STEEM

The chocolate cake I bought was really soft and full of flavor. The chocolate layer on top was thick, but not too sweet. The dough inside was soft and not heavy. I also really enjoyed the texture of the whole wheat bread, which was dense but not hard.

Suggestions for Store Improvement

Overall, El Khomsa is a bakery with excellent product quality, however, I have a few suggestions:

Provide tester samples of new cakes to give customers more confidence in trying unfamiliar flavors.
Improve label descriptions (e.g., allergy information, main ingredients).
Offer a mini morning combo package (e.g., croissant + coffee at a discounted price).

I highly recommend this bakery to anyone visiting Ez Zahra. Besides the high quality of the products, the shop's atmosphere is also very clean and comfortable.
