Not because you deserved it, it is a gift from God.

Today we are saved by grace; we have not earned or deserved anything; it is simply a gift from God.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Again, through this word, He reminds us that we have been saved by grace through faith. Whatever God asks us to change or let go of for Jesus' sake is nothing compared to the precious gift He has given us.
In no way does God ask or seek people to change their behaviors or habits through their own willpower. God fervently desires people who will surrender to Him and place all their trust and faith in Him. Every result of this faith and love generates transformation in the lives of believers. God wants us to trust in Him, and He will do everything He has promised for us and through us. God has the power and authority to forgive and has justified our lives through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. All this transformation that God performs in our lives transforms everything we are, turning us into a new creation, distancing us from everything that is not good for us.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
All of this doesn't mean that we are evolving to abandon old habits and adopt better habits; anyone can do this with or without Christ. Instead, God offers us transformation through that power that has saved us from sin through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
6 Yet we have all become like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we have all fallen like a leaf, and our iniquities have blown us away like the wind.
Isaiah 64:6
