The moment we place our trust in Christ as our Savior, from that very moment on, His righteousness is delivered to us totally and completely.
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in all things you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, 6 just as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you are lacking in no gift, eagerly awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 Who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Have you ever wondered what it takes to make someone holy? Here we see an x-ray of the church at Corinth. This church struggled with behaviors that were unworthy of a Christian. At that time, Paul describes them as those who have been sanctified one in Christ and called to be a holy people.
When we talk about sanctifying, we are talking about setting something or someone apart for a specific or sacred use. We see in the Word of God that God Himself has sanctified days, places, things, and even people. This gives us a more accurate understanding of what a saint is: a person God has set apart for His purposes. This applies to every one of God's children who were set apart for God's purpose.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Romans 5:10
