What are our desires in life?

Just like David, let us ask the Lord to guide our desires in the direction of His will.

23 In that day you will not ask me anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

John 16:23-24

If right now you are asked: What is the desire of your heart, what would be the answer? We all have desires, we have a long list of things such as, for example, a new car, a new phone, being healed of an illness or having a certain amount of money. That list and its priorities change day by day, and what happens with our deepest desires?
Maybe we have never taken the time to meditate on it, so we DO NOT know what the deepest desires of our heart are, and if we pray for them? We simply cannot do it.
The apostle Paul left us many letters in which we can learn a lot about ourselves, for example: there are passions based on our feelings, and these feelings are strong, but they are good if they are inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

If we do not know what we want, even if we pray to God for the desires we have, we may be praying for random things, it is very different if we base ourselves on genuine desires. This leads God to act mercifully and give in, on other occasions He keeps us, protects us from much worse things, He definitely answers us with NO to protect us from our excessive or senseless desires.
Let us not only ask God, let us read and search His word to discover, let us ask that He open our eyes to know the deepest desires of our heart and thus live in His will.
