RE: Response to comment on article 'Christianity is a Deathcult' by @balticbadger
'What about the gospels lol? how many exist now?
Well officially, there are a lot more 'gospels' than are in the modern bible. The current bible is a selection of available texts by a King James, thus the King James version.'
well done for taking the point sideways.
how many copies of the four canonical gospels exist? they must have been written and hand-copied at the time, yet you don't believe those witness accounts, nor any of the non-scriptural references?
but you do believe homer & plato wrote the iliad and the republic?
how many copies of those works exist?
and again, your answer belies the influence of the zeitgeist movie, which has permeated into modern atheist-mystery philosophy - 'oh how can we know that all of the gnostic gospels aren't truth as well?'
because they contradict what the rest of the bible says, in a way the four do not, but they in fact harmonise with it. paul also warns us about gnosticism (also related to subjectivism and 'there is no absolute truth, man' non sense.)
you are determined not to see, nothing more i can do - maybe one or two readers will have more open and searching minds than yours.
good luck :-)
Those 'eye witness accounts' can not be accountable, because they were not recorded at the time of his life and death.
You make many assumptions with what I write.
I'm quite sure your only concern is in being right.
My primary concern is in genuine inquiry.
This means I forego my opinions and my beliefs for a moment and I genuinely take on what someone has said and then decide after weighing with my experience, if it fits in my picture.
I'm afraid these words are for you. Isn't it obvious we are our own keys for our own locks.
I didn't take it sideways, your need to say that I have taken it sideways as an excuse to avoid this very valid point, it what is taking it sideways.
We can not be certain what of the bible is 'authentic' or fabricated.
There are truths in there for sure, just like there are in any religion. But to use the gospels as infallible proof jesus existed is not a good argument.
Good luck, in finding your proof.
It's not about finding 'proof' it's about your personal relationship with Jesus. If that is good for you, and that makes you a happy person, living a good life. Then great. I'm happy for you.
Regardless of if there is 'proof', your beliefs create your reality.
I actually wonder if you read any more than the first few lines. There's a lot in this article. Please, read it.
'Those 'eye witness accounts' can not be accountable, because they were not recorded at the time of his life and death.'
so no historian should be trusted?
the mental games you will go to ..
as i said, good luck sir :-)
They were not historians. I am not playing mental games. Another accusation on your part.
You refuse to look at what's in front of you. Beliefs blind us.
