The price of YOUR peace.

This verse is not just simple prophetic poetry; it is the most profound and powerful summary of the love of God placed in our nation for all humanity.

The Lord Jesus Christ was not wounded by mistake, much less by chance. Here the text is clear: the Lord Jesus Christ was wounded for our transgressions. We can say that for each of the times we chose our paths instead of God's path, he was crushed for our sins. He not only paid a price, but Jesus Christ bore the weight of all our guilt, past, present, and future.

He assumed that punishment we deserved, he bore it in our place. For what? So that you and I could have peace with God forever.

And if this is too much, we must also know that by his stripes we have been healed. This does not refer only to the physical but to something much deeper: our emotions, our soul, and above all, our relationship with God. Jesus Christ has come to restore all that was broken.

When we look at the cross, let us not do so with a purely religious sense. When we look at the cross, let us remember that Jesus Christ has paid the price for our freedom, our peace, and our holiness forever.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement that brought us peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5
