THE MIND OF CHRIST

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Philippians 2:5-11
KJV:Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father
.

If we let this mind of Christ be in us, then will we be able to execute every kingdom tasks and God's name will be glorified.
Counting it all as nothing, just like Christ, being humble and obedient unto death.

Let us see the different kinds of mind; Christ-mind!

A Mind To Do The Will Of God

Matthew 26:39-44
KJV:And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words
.

Jesus Christ came into this world as a man with the utmost aim to do the will of God.That Bible passage reveals it. He always affirmed such an aim in all his activities while on earth. Jesus never yielded to the assaults of the devil, but fully did all that God wanted him to do.

A Mind Of Humility

Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father
.

Jesus Christ humbled himself. When he was in the world, he lived a humble life. Though Christ was God (John 1:1) yet He never insisted on such an equality, but humbled himself to be born by a woman and not only that, he died a shameful death on the cross even when the people he came to deliver hated him. That was a life of humility that God the father exalted him and gave him a name above all names, that every knee must bow at his name.

A Mind That Trusts In God

Romans 4:16-24
KJV:Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead

The situation that Abraham was in was a hopeless one. Here was a man about 100years old with the wife Sarah 90years. Despite these hopeless situation, God still told him that he (Abraham) would get a son through Sarah. We know this was a hard saying indeed, but Abraham did not stagger at this promise of God, but believed that God is able to fulfill whatever He has promised.
Such a state was in Christ in when he came into the world to carry out the assignment of God, the Father. It took faith on Christ's behalf to go to the cross, knowing that he would be cursed before God because of the sins of the world (Gal. 3:13). Still Jesus Christ believed God that He is able to bring him back to life.

A Mind Of Forgiveness

Luke 23:33-38
KJV:And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews
.

What a beloved savior we have in Jesus Christ! It is amazing that at a time when Christ should be bitter, He was still full of love. He never saw any ill treatments He received as coming from the Jews who were calling for His head. But in the midst of the whole turmoil, He prayed for them out of love that God would forgive them. Truly, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). This was a mind of forgiveness!

A Mind That Prevails

1 John 3:5-9
KJV:And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God
.

The purpose of Jesus Christ on earth and the summation of all his programmes was to destroy all the works of the devil and his agents. He never stopped short of fulfilling such a mission. He went all out and defeated the hosts of darkness, bringing victory to all of us who will trust in him to the saving of our souls. And anyone who believes in him gets a fair share of the power of God to prevail.

Conclusion

All these mind were in Christ Jesus.
So we are to let this mind be in us too. To manifest the glory of God the father in our lives.
May God help us as we follow the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ Amen!

Stay blessed!
