Pasteis de nata: finally I’ve made it
Hey Steemian,
These days, I feel kind of nostalgic about Lisbon and Steemfest. I miss @firepower’s crew and all the fun we had in Portugal.
When I came back from Lisbon, one of my main desire and objective as a baker was to make the perfect creamy and delicious pasteis de nata.
You know: those little creatures we’d eaten during the Steemfest.
My first attempt was a total failure: the dough was not buttery enough, and the custard wasn’t creamy. Bleaaah! I was so disappointed at that moment, but now I was ready to try again. If this would have been a failure again, I would have travel to Lisbon to eat some pasteis and steal the recipe. I would go to Lisbon anyway!
The secret to make the perfect pastry is to make sure the butter is evenly layered and the flour excess is removed.
I can’t wait to have my black coffee, this time double, with pasteis. That’s a great thing Portugese do!
