Recipe of the Day, Week No: 71: (Native Rice Recipe)
It’s another time of the day to bring out my cooking skills through recipe of the day initiative. I will be sharing recipe of Native rice which was prepared on the 3rd of August 2025. A local dish that is rich in flavor, aroma, color and nutrients.
The meal is simple and it is made with just few ingredients.
Ingredients Used |
---|
- Rice
- Palm oil
- Smoked fish
- Vegetable ( pumpkin leaf)
- Onions
- Fresh pepper
- Salt
- Maggi
- Curry
- Crayfish
Preparation Procedures |
---|
I started by extracting the starch from the rice through parboiling and washing.
After preparing all the ingredients, set the pot to dry then pour palm oil to heat up for pepper sauce. Add onions and continue to fry.
Add maggi, curry ( powdered form) and salt.
Add smoked fish and fresh pepper then keep boiling on low heat.
Pour the parboiled rice inside and stir
Add crayfish and water (same level with the rice) then cover to boi and for the ingredients to cook properly.
When the water has reduced, add pumpkin leaf for healthy flavor/ attractiveness and stir to spread everywhere.
Do not overcooked the leaf, turn off the gas after one minute.
This delicious delicacy doesn't take long to prepare, it was ready in 1 hour 20 minutes.
The video compilation of the preparation process of my delicious native rice is attached at the end of this article.
I will invite @chant, @dequeen and @josepha to join the recipe of the day contest.
