Recipe of the Day Week No. 70: Special Bombay Biryani with Potatoes

Assalamo Alaikum

this is me @isha-rehman Today I am happy to share with you my recipe for Special Bombay Biryani with Potatoes. This is spicy and tasty rice dish that I made in home using Shan Bombay Biryani Masala. I aded potatoes to gives it unique and filling taste This is my Entry for Week 70 of the #recipesic challenges.

Let me show you how I made it step by step with ingredient & my own photos.

Ingredients:

Here are the thing you need to make this biryani:

For the curry (masala):

  • 2 onions
  • 4 - 5 tomatoes
  • 4 green chilies
  • 1–2 red Chilies (optional for spice)
  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 3–4 garlic cloves
  • 1 packet of Shan Bombay Biryani Masala
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • Salt (as needed)
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt (optional)

For the rice:

  • 2 cups of basmati Rice (Wash & soak in water for 20–30 minute)
  • Water for boilings

Step by step recipe

Step 1: Prepared Vegetable
Wash all the vegetables. Slice the onion tomatoes green Chilies & red chilies Peel and cut the potatoes into medium size Chunk

Step 2: Boil the Rice
In a Separate pot boil Water. Add some salt & cook the soaked rice until it almost done (80% cooked). Then drain the Water and set the rice Aside.

Step 3: Cook the Masala (Curry)
In a big pan heat the oil Add slice onions & fry them until they turn golden brown.
Add garlic tomatoes green chilies and red chilies. Cook Until the tomatoes become soft.
Now add the Shan Bombay Biryani Masala and mix well. Add a little Water if the masala is too thick.
You can also add yogurt here to make the curry Creamy.

Step 4: Add Potatoes
Now add the chopped potatoes Mix well and cook on medium Heat until the potatoes are half cook.

Step 5: Layer the Biryani
In another big pot or the same one (if it big enough) layer the rice and curry.
Start with a layer of cury then rice then curry again until everything is in the pot.
Cover with lid.

Step 6: Steam the Biryani (Dum)
Turn the Heat to low and cook the biryani on "dum" (steam) for 15–20 minute.
This help the rice absorbs all the spices and flavor.

Final Result:

I Serve hot with raita (yogurt sauce) salad or even pickles.
Its perfect for lunch or dinner
