When we talk about Fried Appetizers, the veritably first image that comes to my mind is a plate of hot potato samosas with green chutney. It’s further than just food for me – it’s a memory, a relief snack, and a ensign of gatherings. Growing up, I perpetually descried my mama forming samosas at tea time, and the likely triangles fleeing within minutes. This week’s challenge gave me the chance to recreate that taste and memory.

What I Understand by Fried Appetizers

Fried appetizers are small dishes cooked by deep or shallow frying in oil. They're generally crisp outside and scrumptious outside. These snacks are frequently served before refections, but actually, in my culture, fried appetizers can be enjoyed any time of the day.


My Recipe Potato Samosa

Ingredients for Dough

All- purpose flour – 2 cups

Ghee – 3 tbsp

Salt – ½ tsp

Carom seeds – ½ tsp

Water as needed

Ingredients for Filling

Boiled potatoes – 500 g

Green chilies – 2 finely diced

Red chili powder – 1 tsp

Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

Pomegranate seeds - 1 tsp

Chaat masala – ½ tsp

Fresh coriander – hashed

Lemon juice – few drops

Salt – as demanded

How I Made It

I started by preparing the dough. Flour, ghee, carom seeds, and salt went into the bowl. I sculptured with a little water until it was smooth and soft, also covered it for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, I mashed the boiled potatoes and mixed them with spices – red chili powder, cumin seeds, chaat masala, coriander, and green chilies. Eventually, a few drops of lemon juice extended it that pungent flavor.

Now came my beloved part – shaping the samosas. I agglomerated out the dough, cut it in half, made a cone, and precisely filled it with potato admixture. Closing the edges felt like sealing a little parcel of happiness.

Once the oil was hot, I fried the samosas on intermediate flame until they pivoted golden brown. The aroma filled the kitchen, and I could n’t stay to taste them.
