Cake is the delight of occasions like wedding, anniversaries and some other parties. Creating varieties adds to its beauty. Apart from the usual cake recipe, addition of coffee creates a different taste that is loved by most people. Truly speaking, i never knew that coffee can be added to cake. But I have come to learn and I have practiced it and the outcome is superb.

Coffee Cake

This is the type of cake that incorporated coffee as one of its major ingredients. This means that aside the regular ingredients of flour, egg, butter, sugar, vanilla and other ingredients, coffee is more pronounced and that is why it took over the name which is "coffee cake". Hence, while adding other ingredients, coffee is also added and mixed to enhance it's flavour. Your may want to know the ingredients I used to make my own coffee cake. Well, after going through the lesson for this week by @m-fdo, I was moved to get my own ingredients to prepare mine. Below are the list of ingredients I used for my own entry

The Steps Involved

Step 1

In a clean mixing bowl, add the required amount of butter and sugar. Beat them thoroughly to properly combine. I spent time here beating a d mixing to get the right texture

Step 2

Next, I added the egg after thoroughly beating the butter and sugar. The eggs were added one after the other and then I made sure that I mixed thoroughly too

Step 3

In the next thing I did was to add the vanilla flavour. This helped to give it flavour that it needs. I then mixed it thoroughly to incorporate into the mixture of egg, sugar and butter.

Step 4

I then prepared the flour mixture by first, adding the baking powder to the measured flour, then I mixed it well and sieved into the egg, sugar, vanilla and butter mixture. Then I made sure to whisk manually and consistently to incorporate the flour mixture into the butter mixture.

Step 5

When I was sure that I had gotten the texture of the batter that I needed, I then proceeded to add the coffee mixture. The coffee mixture was gotten by adding the 2 table spoons of warm water to the 1 table spoon of coffee powder, then I allowed it to cool before adding it to the flour batter. I then mixed thoroughly to get the flavour I needed.

Step 6

Then I brought out my baking pan,are sure to clean it thoroughly, then greased it with generous amount of butter so that the cake can come out easily after baking

Step 7

I then transferred the batter to the greased pan, then I preheated my oven and put the cake pan into the oven where I baked the bake till it was ready

Step 8

The cake lasted for 40 minutes before I checked to see that it was ready. To confirm, I used my fork to pork inside and it came out clean. I then brought it out and the final result looked like what you see in the picture below

What difficulties did you encounter while making this recipe?

Mixing the ingredients manually is a little difficult. It would have been easier with electric mixer. However, I was able to overcome it by applying the strength I have to it and then I was able to achieve a wonderful result.

Another difficulty that I encountered was sourcing the materials. Yes, in my neighborhood, it is a challenge getting a cake shop that has everything you need. I had to pay my way to a shop where I got what I needed. I almost gave up taking part in this challenge when I couldn't find what I needed for this cake. But thankfully, I was able to put a call across to @okere-blessing who directed me to a shop when I got the rest of the materials.

Explain the importance of each of the ingredients you used in making this cake

Flour: this is a dry powered ingredients that acts as an absorbing agent as well as what gives cake the structure it needs to be called cake.it also gives it moisture and strength.

Butter is for texture, flavour and also for structure

Sugar: this is primarily known for it's sweetening. It makes the cake to be sweet, it also enhances flavour. texture, moisture retention, aeration, and makes the cake to be tender.

Egg: helps with emulsification, structure, moisture, leavening and flavour.

Baking powder acts as a leavening agent, helping the cake to be light and airy.

Coffee: this enhances the flavours in cake. It also improves the texture through hydration and air incorporation.

Vanilla enhances the flavour, aroma and texture of the cake.

Who I will like to share this cake with and why

Well, I will like to share this cake with @adeljose. The reason is because modern coffee cakes originated from America and I know he must have been familiar with it and even if he isn't familiar with it, it will be a great opportunity to have a taste of it.

Moreso, coffee cake gives quick energy. Owing to his busy schedule especially in gathering all the booming supports that individuals receive daily and weekly, in addition to his other engagements, he will be exhausted from work and will need quick energy to bounce back.

Moreover, cakes opens happiness and I always want him to be happy. And added with wine, he will truly be happy and then remain healthy.

Conclusion

I have been able to list all the ingredients I used for this cake recipe for week 5 challenge. I followed the lesson and I was able to prepare it and get the result. The cake tastes great and I enjoyed it with family and friends.

If given the opportunity, I will like to enjoy it with the user I mentioned as requested. And I have been able to list the uses of all the ingredients used. I will like to invite @mesola @fannyescobar and @rosselena to take part in this coffee cake challenge. Success in your participation!

Los pasteles son imprescindibles en toda celebración un cumpleaños sin torta no es un cumpleaños, te quedó muy bien ese pastel muy esponjoso estoy segura que el amigo @adeljose le encantará probar este pastel contigo

You can try local oven that doesn't require gas, where you use sand and stone in a pot to bake it. You can browse it.
