Swapnil Varieties Store

✓ Name, location and hours of the bakery.

Today I’m going to talk about Swapnil Varieties Store, one of the most popular bakeries in our small town. I’ve known this bakery since my childhood, it has always been a familiar name to me.

The bakery is located very close to the railway station, right opposite the well-known Shah Restaurant, so you won’t have any trouble finding it.

The bakery usually opens around 9–10 AM and closes before midnight (around 12 AM), though the opening and closing hours may vary slightly from day to day.

✓ Details of the different products offered (quality, price).

Swapnil Varieties Store offers a wide range of baked and packaged items including baby food, baby care products, beverages, ice creams, chocolates, cakes, biscuits, noodles, personal care, and home care products. Indian cosmetics, chocolates, and baby food items are quite popular, and I was glad to see that all of them are available at this bakery.

They sell both local and imported goods. The quality of local products is good, while imported items are usually excellent that’s why this small bakery is always busy with customers. I found the quality of the local food items to be quite good. The bakery also offers a range of imported cold drinks. I don’t usually buy them since they’re a bit on the expensive side.

Personal care products

The presence of cosmetic items also draws a good number of female customers to the bakery. The local items are quite affordable. I personally know one of the staff members here, and he often gives me a fair price on the products I buy. Indian chocolates and personal care items are also available at reasonable prices.

✓ Payment methods

Since this is a local bakery without any franchise branches, they mainly accept cash payments. In Bangladesh, digital payment for small purchases is still not very common, especially for low-value transactions.

Cash counter

Once digital micro-payments become more popular, local bakeries like this will likely start accepting digital payments too.For now, it’s best to carry cash when shopping here.

✓ Other points that you consider relevant to mention

The bakery is located on a narrow roadside, where car parking is not possible. So, you’ll need to come on foot, by rickshaw, van, or motorcycle. They also take custom cake orders for birthdays or other special occasions I personally like this service, as their cakes are quite good in both taste and decoration.

Horlicks, Chocos, Boost, and other food and household items

Since it’s a small bakery, they don’t need a large staff. Usually, there are three people working: one sitting near the manager at the counter, and two others helping customers find what they need.

✓ Details about its structure, atmosphere, service, among others.

Almost every corner of Swapnil Varieties Store is filled with different products. Many items hang outside near the main entrance. On both sides of the entrance, there are refrigerators filled with cold drinks, water, and juices.

Inside, the cash counter is on the left, surrounded by different types of biscuits. On the right, there’s a deep freezer for ice cream, and just above it, a heated display that keeps snacks like patties warm and fresh.

The walls and shelves are packed with both local and imported goods, biscuits, personal care items, baby food, chocolates, and more. It’s a small space, yet very neat and well-organized. Apart from the hanging items, everything else is displayed properly on the shelves.

There’s also a nearby storage room (or mini-godown) where cakes and other bakery items are kept. The bakery is equipped with CCTV cameras for security, and there’s a monitor at the counter showing all customer activity. The staff here are friendly and helpful, they give good product suggestions and always treat customers politely.

✓ What type of bread do you think best represents your country's baking tradition?

Breads from local brands

Bread from popular brand Taj Bakery

In my opinion, pauruti (bread) best represents Bangladesh’s baking tradition. Since childhood, I’ve loved Taj Bakery’s bread it’s soft, tasty, and of good quality. This brand of bread is extremely popular in our country. Having bread at breakfast, whether plain, with jam, or with bananas, feels like a tradition. It’s affordable, simple, and part of our everyday life.

✓ What is your favorite baked good from the bakery?

1000051263.jpg
Pettis

My favorite items from this bakery are pastries and patties. If I had to choose one, I’d go with patties. They offer both spicy and sweet patties here. Depending on my mood, I enjoy both but sweet patties are my personal favorite.

✓ Do you think there is anything the bakery could improve?

Swapnil Varieties Store is a very small bakery, and it often gets overcrowded with customers. The main issue is limited space, sometimes it’s even difficult to walk inside when it’s busy. I think they should expand the space a bit or rearrange the layout to allow customers to move more comfortably.

Despite the small number of customers in this bakery, the store was already crowded

It would also be great if they had a separate display case for cakes, as it would make browsing easier and improve the presentation. Other than that, everything else is quite satisfactory. I highly recommend this bakery for its quality baked items and friendly service.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
