SLC-S25/W1 | Community World Tour : Traditional Cuisine
Assalamu Alaikum.
Hello everyone,
I am @sojib1996
From #Bangladesh
Today, in the first week of Steemit Challenge 25, I will participate in @kouba01 Sir's
SLC-S25/W1 | Community World Tour: Traditional Cuisinecompetition. First of all, I would like to thank Sir for organizing such a beautiful event. I hope everyone will enjoy it.
Today, I will write about the traditional food of our country, Semai, as per the competition. Semai is one of our traditional dishes. In Bengali, this semai is derived from the Greek word "semidalis". The word semidalis means flour and flour is a Persian word.
This semai is of two types, one is made in a machine and the other is prepared by dividing flour into flakes.
Semai is a sweet dish in Bengali cuisine, it is made with raisins, sugar, and hot spices. This food is popular in our country. Especially, it is organized more during the biggest festivals of Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.
Also, this semai is made along with breakfast when guests come to the house. In rural Bengal, sweets are still served according to the wedding rules, in which case they are served with semai.
This traditional food is often prepared in our house, it is more popular in the capital city of our country, Dhaka, so it is said that it is popular in all parts of the country including Dhaka.
The origin of this food is specific It is not possible to say with certainty, but this food is still popular in the Indian subcontinent, I think it was made during the reign of kings.
This food has been our tradition for ages, so the attraction towards this food is as always and it is quite delicious, so everyone in the family likes it. The taste of Semair is incomparable, so I cook it and eat it.
Since Semai is a dessert and is one of our traditional dishes, I often make it and eat it because it is delicious.
I will show the Semai recipe below with step-by-step pictures and at the end I will give a video that will make the Semai recipe clear.

Wow @sojib1996, your post truly feels like a warm trip to your kitchen in Dhaka! I’ve never tasted semai before, but the way you told the story behind it, from its Greek root to the love it's made with during Eid, gave it a soul beyond just a recipe. I loved how you tied this dish to your country’s hospitality and celebration culture.
Your step-by-step pictures made me hungry and inspired. Thanks for bringing tradition to life so beautifully. 🤍🍽
