RE: Burning the Midnight Oil Reading about the Drama on Steemit: A n00bs Perspective
Great post @shawnfishbit. Luckily, I haven't run across any negative posts here on Steemit or any flame wars on the Discord channels but I have definitely heard about some of the nefarious activity you mentioned in your post.
After all, we are getting bigger by the day as a community, attracting all types of folks from other social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, etc. so these things will probably happen from time to time. But I have great faith in our Steemit community that those who truly value the community and believe in building our network will continue to work hard, while those scant troublemakers will eventually get tired of getting flagged and leave for good.
At the end of the day, the hard-working and honest Steemians will win out! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Shawn :)
Thanks for your insight @cerebralace . . I stumbled upon it somehow and fell down the rabbit hole. I agree completely with you. Being positive and working together will win out. I knew about the platform for some time and only recently was in a position where I could put some time and resources here. I'm very happy that I did so far.
I think that the Steemit platform is one of the most unique uses for the blockchain that I have ever seen. As time moves forward, and crypto becomes more and more mainstream, steemit will be utilized by more bloggers, writers, photographers, doctors, programmers, and casual users. So it's pretty exciting!
Exactly! Out of all the blockchain projects that I have studied and followed closely, Steemit is the only one that fascinates me the most with its unimaginable potential to benefit so many different types of content creators in the world - writers, photographers, musicians, artists, doctors, engineers, programmers, bloggers and just about anyone who has a story to tell in a few sentences and emojis.
Steemit is truly incredible and we have joined it at the best possible time. Thus, the onus is on us as its earliest adopters to ensure that it continues to grow and avoids the pitfalls of other social networks before it. I'm currently trying to do my part by educating my family, friends and coworkers about Steemit each day!
