A free market works every time that it's been tried. It works best when it's free. When it's not free it don't workie so well. Every time someone tries to regulate it, for whatever reason, it is, by definition, less free. And, overall, it works less well. It may work better for some (the cronies who got that favorable law passed) but in so doing it penalized others. After a while the system get's tangled up in rules, regulations and collapses.
