RE: Helpful Tips for New Steemians to Cut OUT the Spam!
Thank you for this post @Chelsea88! As we discussed last night, flagging is such a huge grey area and something I'd prefer not to waste my voting power on. There are times when I feel it's necessary and I will do it if it needs to be done. Its so frustrating to invest yourself in a post or a challenge to find that people are spamming your tag or the comments with things that have nothing to do with it. I posted last night about wanting to help build up the newer steemians in hope that they will learn good etiquette if it is modeled for them, we encourage their good behavior, and correct their poor behavior. I'm really tempted to focus on a specific newbie and maybe take on more as they grow and need the help less.
Anther golden nugget by you. A mentorship for willing new Steemians. Yep, your rag was a prime example of not understanding what a tag means. #tendaysofreflection is a photographic challenge and a simple read through of almost any post using the tag would tell you
A) who initiated it
B) what it is!
@Whatsup recently "adopted" @BrandyB and now she is looking to pair people for "adoption". I think it's an exciting idea....but it wasn't originally my idea. It's a shame I didn't come up with it, cause I think it's freaking brilliant! Here is the post where I read about it.

Interesting I just picked up @brandb over in @eastcoaststeem
And yeah unless it was a mishap I ALWAYS credit whoever came up with the actual challenge... seems like common sense but we all know that's not so common anymore
Oh yeah, it was always steemians that I don't know....I'm thinking they assume if they got tagged then the person who tagged them initiated the challenge, I don't think its malicious.
Lol, I've seen several posts where someone credits another steemian with hosting/initiating the challenge and I'm like..."um, that was me but whatevs...." but I don't say anything.
Happens to me too. I have had a couple of tags hijacked, even though the posts are not even relevant. I even used my own tag for a while just to help me keep track of all my posts and then people started using it! so, I just gave up using it. I’ll need to check to see if it is still being used, because it is associated with my business. Lol!
That's crazy. I really don't get why people use tags they don't understand!
We have a lot of people who don't understand English, so they don't know what the tags mean. Sad, really.
