The 1000 Followers Milestone! (Testimonial Tuesday)

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Yesterday I hit the 1000 followers milestone (with a little push-up from the Old Dog)!! A big thank you to ALL of you and mostly to the ones that have been supportive all along with me! I won't put names here, because I might unintentionally forget someone.

First it was the 100, then the 500 and finally the 1000. I know these numbers don't make such a big difference considering the dead followers or people who follow another couple of thousands users. But among those 1000 I have made out some that I enjoy interacting with, I love seeing their comments under my posts and I try to visit their blogs regularly as well.

And since I achieved one quite hard to get number, I will rambble a bit about my experience with steemit the last 6 months I've been more active on the platform.

My 6 months resolution

I joined steemit last June, but only got more engaged in August. At first it was only the regular memes and photos most noobs post until they figure out how things work around here. Then, I thought since I am a teacher I should start sharing educational material, ideas and projects. I did that quite a bit. After that, bizarreness kicked in and I launched my Bizarre Natural Phenomena series. I also shared a few of my travelling experiences. Along with the educational troll-posts I started sharing some of my stories which I bring out more often nowadays.

Today I hold a blog that shares knowledge the fun way with doses of fiction a few times a week. Of course personal experiences couldn't be missing from time to time.

How I got here?

First, it was a push from a very good friend who introduced me to the platform. Then, my random follows, upvotes and comments as I was trying to find blogs that interest me. After that, it was my posts and personality that attracted more users to my blog. I think my writing style had its share in this too. Discussions, suggestions, trial and error never ceased, as I hate to be stagnant and like to try new things and experiment.

What I learnt so far?

How to move around here and meet new people; not only on cyberspace, but in real life as well. Through Steemit I have met in person lots of Greek members (like @rouketas, @skapaneas, @steemychicken1 and @dimitrisp) and I'm looking forward to adding international ones on my list.

How to try and make Steemit a better place, where originality is welcome and abuse restricted.

How to promote communities (@greek-trail and @steemstem are the projects I am actively involved in).

How there is strength in unity (just like the spiders from yesterday's post).

Goals, paid-out and pending

Thanks to Steemit I have managed to improve my writing style in English. Before Steemit I used to write mainly in Greek (poems and short stories fill up dozens of notebooks and text files).

I have found a new place to interact with people in a productive way (exchanging ideas, joking, learning facts about other countries, gaining knowledge, building communities and widening my horizons).

I have managed to make a complementary income through Steemit.

I have shared ideas to help other users increase their author rewards.

I have successfully brought a friend on the platform, another one is on her way and I hope to bring some more.

In 2018 I wish to see more people providing useful feedback below my posts.

I wish to reach out to some that find true value and inspiration in my writing.

I wish to see the Greek community get strong and steemSTEM stronger.

I wish to become even better!

All these thoughts were going round my head those last few weeks and fit perfectly @kus-knee's initiative, Testimonial Tuesday, where Steemians share their personal steemit experiences.

So, long story short: Steemit has been a medium to put all my wild imagination in good use, it has become a way of life and sociasializing and a great alternative during the times of economic crisis.

Thank you so much for your time!

Until my next post,
Steem on and keep smiling, people!
