Shaheed Minar is a monument built in memory of the martyrs of the language movement. It is a symbol of pride, respect and protest of the Bengali nation. On February 21, 1952, when the police opened fire on students protesting for making Bengali one of the state languages ​​of Pakistan, Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Shafiq, Jabbar and many other students were martyred. The first Shaheed Minar was built near Dhaka Medical College to pay tribute to the sacrifices of these martyrs. Since then, Shaheed Minar has been built in every school, college and important place in Bangladesh. Every year, February 21, is celebrated as International Mother Language Day, and the Bengali nation pays tribute and pays homage to the martyrs by placing flowers at this Shaheed Minar.
