Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 20/1/2019 I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com many have came here to discuss the daily Steem prices and changes for just over 2 years now.

I also want to mention just incase your thinking something doesn't seem normal from the other regular Price update posts that the daily Steem price posts do slightly change from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as its important for your daily plan or strategy and honestly even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and keeping an eye on the price, so without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price Change for 20/1/2019

Should you be trading with Steem today..

Soon we may see Steem fall back down "MUCH LOWER" from the January high which was not yesterdays highest at $0.37 nope but Steem as already reached $0.39! The big question for today was did Steem hit $0.40 and no it sadly didn't. We have now had another Bitcoin downwave which was not expected from the recent recovery, but what's even more interesting about this is how Steem was barely effected, yes sure it did fall to $0.34 at ⏰12.20 but it was soon back up, and now reaching to $0.38 again. Bitcoin's high was at $4075 and fell to $3491, it started recovering crossing the 2nd downwave line but now this 3rd downwave reached into about %80 of the 2nd downwave's fall. But what's surprising is this doesn't seem to be affecting Steem as it remains above $0.30 as last time we were this low the Steem price was under $0.30. Some say it's the darkoverlord account which got Steem noticed with the recent banning news. Anyway if your a buyer one of the biggest and best opportunities to buy Steem "might" present its-self in a few weeks time this is due to knowing that Ned as been powering down but so as the Steemit account, PANIC mode ON! Nope don't panic yet. This is important because that account holds around 35 million Steem!! If the powerdown's don't stop in 13 weeks all that Steem will be tokenized meaning the price of Steem will drop. While this means the end of days for some we still don't know how exactly Steem-INC are going to play it, I don't believe they are running away with the money.. but it seems like they are on a mission to protect it due to some threats. If nothing much happens in 2019 then I hope those who are in the game will take the opportunity to keep collecting Steem especially if the Steemit account continues to power down over the next weeks. And so at these low prices and with the Steem power-downs we are still on a survival mode era of Steemit.com but nearly out of it, Bitcoin dropped drastically forcing Steem's value to tank causing Steem-INC staff reductions, a possible threat to the website and the Steemit account security. The conclusion is to cut down the costs of nodes among other strategies. Hivemind is now live they have decreased the "steemd" instance size's from 488GB RAM to now would you believe 61GB RAM!! There is a focus on a multi index RocksDB adapter which is a new technology in development to allow the Steem blockchain nodes to store almost all it's necessary data to a disk in a modern database instead of RAM, this move will make nodes cheaper. Ned said recently cost reduction work will still continue ahead of SMT's so those who want that will have to wait a little longer. I mentioned the other day how SBD's were strangely falling behind with Steem's growth but it seems today it's caught up as SBD's should of been at $0.96 and that is exactly where they are now, we did see them go down to under $0.90 at ⏰12.45 but all is good now.
