I think people do it because there are a fair number of bots and individuals in the introduceyourself section trying to help out the newcomers.

So yes I think overall it is a ploy to get upvotes.

There are all kinds of games played on here...not sure how many of them are really effective.

      Yes it is....although there is a good group on here that posts in people they identify as spammers warning people that is what they are believed to be.

      There are also those who come on here with huge followings so they have the ability to toss something up and it goes trending.

      For me, it is just plain over interaction, posting, and dedication. We will see where that takes me.
