My student is not feeling well.
My student is not feeling well
Today, I came to class and saw a silent child in the middle of everyone. There was a deep tiredness in her eyes, no smile on her lips, and her small face was holding back a lot of words. Instead of a book, she rested her head on the bench. As if she was lost in a world of sadness.
This little student of mine used to be very cheerful every day. She was eager to learn new things, play with her friends, and would raise her hand to every question. Today, her silence made my mind restless.
I thought, maybe something happened at home... maybe someone's lack or complaint, the pain of not saying anything, or her body is not feeling well. The teacher's eyes do not avoid these. But the most painful part is that even at this age, she has to carry the burden of sadness.
When we adults are sad, we have the strength to say or bear it. But children? They cannot explain, they cannot even say it. They only communicate with their eyes, "I am not feeling well."
I want this student of mine to smile again like before. Let him run around the playground, let his eyes sparkle with interest as he turns the pages of a book.
I pray that Allah will lighten his mind and bring back that familiar smile to his face. For a teacher, the smile of a student is the greatest achievement.
