Steem Monsters News and a Tournament Win

Yesterday I had another first place in a Steem Monsters tournament. It was a novice league tournament, but still a win is a win 😊. A 5 STEEM reward for that one.

I have bought a couple of the legendry’s summoners recently and with those at level 1, I’m competitive in the novice and bronze league. I also have some legendary cards. To be able to win any tournament, having legendries is almost a must.

The tournaments are a whole new level to the game. I’m very much enjoying them and enjoy the mental challenge they represent. Before the tournaments there was only the daily quest as a form for rewarding users. Now I’m much more involved in the tournaments then the daily quests. Going forward the tournaments will play more and more important role.

On the legendary cards, I have upgraded some legendary monsters to level 2, which makes me competitive in the silver league. No legendary summoners at level 2 yet. That is a to much cost for now. You need a total of 3 legendary cards for level 2. With a price of those between 20$ to 30$ now, it means 60$ to 90$ for a single card, legendary summoner at level 2.
To get a legendary summoner to a max level 4, you need 11 cards.

Cards Rental

If you want a high level legendary summoner or monster, but don’t have the finance, this is where the rental market can come handy. There is a rental market now on https://peakmonsters.com/market. The price for rental a legendary summoner can vary, but now is starting from 0,01 $/day for level 1, up to 4 $/day for level 4 summoner. The price on the level 4 summoner is different for a different type of summoner, and sometime a level 4 summoner can be found for 0,5$ a day for rental. This can be an interesting market for investors as well. Buy those legendary cards and rent them.

New Rulesets

New rulesets were introduced recently and plans for are announced from the team.

The first one on the photo is little league with only monsters and summoners under 4 manna allowed. This rule basically eliminates the legendries, but also some other cards.
The second one is fog of war, monsters loose sneak and snipe abilities. This means all of the attack is concentrated on the first monster, so you want a strong one there.
The third one, earthquake, was introduced the last of all. It attacks all the non-flying monsters with a melee attack at the end of each round. You want a flying monsters for this one. Second option is monsters with shield.

With these rulesets added the game have now an overall of 16 types of rulesets and expected to add more. I expressed my thoughts to the team, about the number of the rulesets, and is it getting to complicated for new players. A steep learning curve. Maybe a gradual introduction to a ruleset as players climb the leagues will be nicer. It is difficult to find the balance.

Promo Cards Stats

Below are the stats for the promo cards for the SEEDGerminator crowdfunding campaign.

The first one is a summoner with a 5 manna. It gives +1 magic attack to all of the magic monsters a +1 magic attack, similar as Selenia is giving +1 to the ranged monsters.
The second one is a ranged attack with a sneak ability, meaning it will attack the last one in the line. Quite unique.
The third card is very interesting, at least for me. It has a new ability called opportunity. Meaning it attacks the enemy with the least health. With only 2 manna I find this card very attractive.
The last one is the big boy. The stats for that one was introduced already. It has a double type of attack, a new type of ability that repulse ranged attack, heal and flying as well.

I have participated already in the campaign and will be interesting to see what of these cards will I get.

p.s. I’m thinking of writing some SM tips. Since I play a lot of tournaments, I always go back to the games I lost and I’m taking notes what I could do better the next time. I have a long list of those ones now. Anybody interested? 😊
